"And after so long, I saw them again."
CHAPTER 2
the dropshipShe opens her eyes and everything is immediately sharp and not blurry this time. Her body is still a bit weak, but she can move normally again. She looks around panicky and quickly realizes that she is in the dropship, on its way to Earth.
She feels something pinching against her wrist and immediately looks down at her wrist. The metal wristband stings into her skin. It hurts a bit.
"Welcome back."
She turns her head to the left and sees Murphy Johnson sitting next to her. She looks at him questioningly.
Madison and Murphy had a good friendship on the Ark. They were in the same class, when they were arrested. Earth Skills. There they learned everything they needed to know to survive on Earth.
"Murphy, what the hell is happing?", she asks confused.
She knows what's happening, but she still has all kinds of questions.
"We're finally free", he smiles to her.
Madison's dream was to go to Earth, as most on the Ark dream. But she needs a minute to process everything that is happening.
But then the dropship starts shaking for some seconds.
Madison holds her belt tightly and looks around anxiously.
Soon the movement has stopped and she looks back at Murphy with wide, scared eyes.
"What was that?", she asks as soon as it has stopped.
She looks around, seeing more kids who she knows from Earth Skills. It already feels better that she sees familiar ones.
"That was the atmosphere", Murphy answers.
The lights in the dropship goes on and a large television hanging on the wall turns on.
Chancellor Jaha appears on the screen.
"Prisoners of the Ark, hear me now. You've been given a second chance and as you're Chancellor is it my hope that you see this, as not just a chance for you, but as a chance for all of us. Indeed, for mankind itself. We have no idea what is waiting for you down there. If the odds of survival were better, we would have sent others. Frankly, we're sending you, because your crimes have made you expendable", Chancellor Jaha explains to everyone on the dropship.
No one cares what he has to say and doesn't really listen to him anyway.
Madison rolls her eyes at his words, but she does see this as a second chance for her.
Chancellor Thelonius Jaha is the leader of the Ark. He is the main reason Madison's best friend was floated. She definitely hates him. That's no secret.
