Ivy was sprawled across her bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. It was a holiday, yet she couldn't enjoy it. Usually, on such days, she'd hop on her bike and ride through the quiet streets, letting the wind clear her mind, but today, even that small pleasure was denied.
"This is so frustrating," she muttered under her breath. Her brother, was out of town again on business with their father, and the house felt eerily quiet in their absence. She sat up, feeling the stillness weigh on her, and decided to leave her room to shake off the boredom.
As she stepped into the hallway, the distant hum of activity filled the air. The maids were busy with their chores, preparing the house for something she couldn't quite place. Just as she turned the corner, she nearly bumped into one of the maids. The woman bowed her head respectfully and spoke, "Ma'am, I was just coming to find you."
Ivy raised an eyebrow. "What's going on?" she asked, her voice slightly impatient from the boredom that had been gnawing at her all morning.
"Sir and young master will be returning tomorrow," the maid continued, "and we will be leaving for Ilsan for a few days. You will need to skip your university classes for the trip."
The words hit Ivy like a bucket of cold water. "Wait, what?" she exclaimed, her eyes widening. "Ilsan? And I have to skip university?"
The maid nodded, looking apologetic. "Yes, ma'am. It's been arranged already."
Ivy's mind raced. The thought of leaving town, even for a short while, was one thing, but missing university meant being away from Taehyung and the idea of not seeing him for a few days felt like an eternity. "No, I can't just leave like that," she protested, feeling the anxiety rise in her chest. "There has to be some other way!"
The maid offered a gentle smile but shook her head. "I am afraid this decision comes from your father, mam. If you have any concerns, perhaps you can speak to him when he returns tomorrow."
Ivy bit her lip, her thoughts swirling. "I'll talk to Ivan, alright," she said firmly, though she knew deep down that her father's decisions were rarely changed once made. Still, she wasn't going to give up without trying.
With a sigh she nodded in understanding, knowing deep down that she couldn't go against her father's wishes. But still, she resolved to talk to Ivan, hoping her brother could help her find a way out.
Evening had settled in by then, and the weather was pleasant, with a cool, chilly breeze blowing through the trees. Ivy's hair danced with the wind as she wandered through their expansive garden, admiring the delicate flowers. She sat down on a nearby bench, the peaceful surroundings failing to distract her from the one thought lingering in her mind-Taehyung. She missed him.
After a moment's hesitation, she pulled out her phone and dialed his number. The call was picked up within seconds, quicker than she had expected. Hearing the click on the other end, Ivy couldn't help but smile. She leaned back against the bench, her lips curling into a teasing grin.
