I hated social gatherings

I hated social gatherings. The forced smiles, the endless small talk-it wasn't my scene. But today was Minji's wedding, my uncle's one and only daughter. Kim Minji, the jewel of the family.

I had no choice but to attend. She had always been my mother's favorite, and skipping out would've been unforgivable. So here I was, dressed to impress, but feeling out of place.

My father didn't come. Typical. He said that he would directly came on the wedding day. It was just me and my mother representing the prestigious Kim family. We were the picture-perfect family to the world-the definition of wealth and power.

But inside, it was all an illusion. That's why I preferred the quiet. In silence, there was no need to wear masks, no need to pretend everything was fine.

As expected, my mother was in her element, chatting away with relatives, basking in the family reunion. She was genuinely happy. Her bond with Minji was strong, almost motherly. They shared an unspoken connection, something I couldn't quite relate to. Me? I stuck to the sidelines, doing my best to remain invisible.

I was standing to the side, away from the crowd, doing my best to blend into the shadows. The ceremony was in full swing, laughter and music filling the air, but I wasn't interested. I'd rather be anywhere else than surrounded by this noise, forced smiles, and shallow conversations.

But then, something caught my eye.

In the center of the dance floor, a figure was moving gracefully, her back turned to me. She was dancing with a man, someone who looked young-maybe in his twenties, if I had to guess.

I wasn't sure what it was about her, but my gaze was locked on her.

As if I know her.

As if there was some invisible pull drawing me in.

I found myself unable to look away.

I was captivated, without even knowing why.

The host's voice echoed through the speakers, announcing that it was time for everyone to switch partners. The man she was dancing with leaned in, whispering something in her ear and then maybe laughing at her reply? He twirled her around gracefully, and in that moment, I finally saw her.

The questions that had been swirling in my mind suddenly went silent. It was as if the world around me faded away, leaving only her. I watched as she twirled, the lights dimming on the dance floor, casting shadows around her.

In that moment, I realized she was going to trip. Without thinking, I stepped forward, closing the distance between us. Before she could fall, she landed in my arms.

I closed my eyes for a second, feeling her warmth, inhaling the soft fragrance that lingered around her. It was intoxicating. And then, she whispered my name. "Taehyung..." Her voice was soft, almost a breath, and my heart skipped a beat. She hadn't even seen my face yet. How did she know it was me?
