Tegan padded back through to Luke's room in her pyjama shorts and oversized t-shirt, while Luke was finalising his appearance for the day of school ahead.

"I'm not going to school today," Tegan said, watching Luke as he folded the collar of his white shirt down over his school tie.

Luke turned around from the mirror and gave a small shrug.

"Well, then - neither am I," Luke decided, folding up his collar again and pulling off the striped tie from around his neck.

"Luke," Tegan sighed. "You can't just ditch every time I decide on not going to school."

"Yes I can," Luke shrugged again. "Anyway, I know why you're skipping today; it's Calum's birthday."

"Liz is going to kill me once she finds out how much school you're missing!" Tegan said playfully, collapsing down onto the bed with a sigh

"Shut up," Luke shook his head, laughing slightly as he grabbed a pair of clean sweatpants and a t-shirt. "I'm going to change again and get some food, I'll be right back."

The pair of them spent the day distributing their time between watching reruns of old sitcoms and holding random conversations with each other in the commercial breaks or whenever they got bored.

It wasn't until that evening that either of them decided to venture any further than Luke's kitchen.

Luke had been paired with Michael for an english assignment, and had planned to go over to Michael's in order to make a start to it. Tegan on the other hand had a free schedule, and just decided on going out for a while for a change of scenery and some fresh air.

So Tegan walked Luke halfway to Michael's house before they parted ways. It was only early evening, but due to the time of year it was becoming increasingly dark out.

Tegan stuffed her hands into the pocket of her jacket and walked aimlessly down a street of expensive houses with well kept gardens. It was cold, and she could see her breath out in front of her every time she breathed out under the light of the street lamps.

"Hey, baby," a voice slurred slightly, dragging out the words. Tegan hadn't noticed the figure approaching her. But as they got closer, she recognised it as Hunter.

Hunter had just come from Liam Payne's house, where he and a bunch of friends were having pre drinks before heading to the beach to have a somewhat celebration for Calum's birthday. The group had left Liam's house as a collective, but Hunter had somehow managed to break away and find himself in the complete opposite direction to the beach.

"You look good," he said, stopping just ahead of Tegan, which in turn caused her to come to an unwanted halt in front of him.

"Hi."

"So," Hunter smiled lazily, and moved to lean against someone's garden wall. "I hear you're single now?"

"Yes."

"Ah, good," Hunted stood up tall again. "See, I've always had my eye on you - but you were Calum's girl."

"What about Riley?" Tegan asked, referring to Hunter's on-off girlfriend who Calum had coincidentally fooled around with not so long ago.

Hunter snorted in amusement.

"What about her?" He shrugged, a twinkle in his eye. "You're not with Calum anymore, so I can go for you now."

"It's not as simple as that," Tegan shook her head, feeling extremely uncomfortable. Of course, she had spoken to Hunter numerous times before, but she had never really liked him much and Calum had always been in the presence of them both. She had never experienced Hunter while he wasn't sober either.
