As I stood there, still in shock from seeing Karan standing at my door so early, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of emotions. What was he doing here? We had planned to have breakfast together, yes, but I had completely forgotten. The sudden realization hit me hard, and my mind was racing. My parents are coming. What am I supposed to do now?
Karan’s presence felt like a whirlwind, and I wasn’t sure how to handle it. His calm demeanor and the way he looked at me made me feel safe, but at the same time, it only added to my growing anxiety. I had to get him out of here. There’s no way my parents can find him here. Not like this.
I snapped out of my thoughts when he spoke again. “What? Your maa papa are coming here? You didn’t tell me?” His words were laced with surprise, and I could tell he was trying to make sense of the situation, but I was in no mood for explanations.
I quickly tried to regain control of the situation. “Hey, hey, why are you calling them ‘maa papa’ and why should I inform you?” I asked, my voice a little sharper than I intended. I was trying to make light of the situation, but my nerves were getting the best of me.
Karan didn’t seem phased by my tone. He just shrugged, as if the whole thing didn’t matter much to him. “I was saying ‘your maa papa’ and leave it now. If I’m here, I’ll leave after meeting them.” He said this so casually, like he wasn’t worried about the consequences.
I felt a knot tighten in my stomach. This was not how I had imagined this morning going. I wanted to spend time with Karan, but not like this. Not with my parents showing up unexpectedly. I needed to get him out of here before they arrived.
“No, you can’t,” I said urgently, my voice panicked. “You have to leave right now because I can’t take any risks. Please, Karan, just go.” My words were a plea, but they were also filled with fear. I didn’t know how my parents would react if they found out Karan was here, and I couldn’t risk it.
Karan, however, didn’t seem to understand the gravity of the situation. He was still standing there, looking at me with those calm, unwavering eyes. Why isn’t he listening? I thought, frustration building inside me.
Just as I was about to say something more, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching from the hallway. My heart skipped a beat. They’re here. They’re really here.
