2- Solangelo

"It's been a long time."

Nico looked up from the garlic he was chopping. "Hm? What has?"

"Since we had the house to ourselves for the night." Will leaned against the counter.

Nico smiled and went back to chopping. "Oh, yeah. What has it been...three years? No way."

"Since Michael was born, we've had at least him at home. So yeah, three." Will whistled. "When did we get so old?"

"I've been old. You've just finally caught up to me." Nico gestured towards the knives. "Can you dice the tomatoes, please?"

"It's so quiet." Will washed his hands and ran the tomato under the sink to rinse it. "No cartoons on the TV, no toys playing any pre-recorded sound bites... it's too quiet."

He frowned. "I miss them."

"I know. I do too. But your mother has them. They're safe and spending time with their grandma." Nico glanced up again. "I'll turn some music on to offset that silence."

He wiped his hands on a rag and turned to the radio, playing whatever non-Disney playlist that first popped up.

"What did we even do before kids?" Will asked.

Nico paused to think. "Sleep through the night. Curse. Sex. Unhealthy food. Sleep."

Will hummed and nodded. "That's a nice list."

"I wouldn't trade it, though."

"Agreed." Will paused to think, listening intently to the music. "Is that our song?"

Nico listened for the familiar notes, then smiled. "Yeah, it is."

Will offered a hand. "Wanna dance?"

Nico hesitated. "I have garlic fingers."

"I don't care. Dance with me."

"Ok." Nico took Will's hand, garlic fingers and all.

They danced in their kitchen to their first dance song, holding each other close as they tried not to step on each other's toes.

Nico rested his face in the crook of his husband's neck, feeling vibrations as Will hummed the tune.

"Nico?"

"Hm?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."
