(Sage Pov)

I got into the car’s back seat without a word spoken. The winds began to pick up more, clouds growing darker and heavier with pouring rain coming down again. The sun was hidden completely by the storming black clouds. It calmed down during those two classes, like the weather wasn't pleased I was leaving.

Cane closed the door shut after getting in himself, not hesitating to hit the road. A familiar unsettling feeling loomed over me, I could sense something bad was going to happen. Bouncing my knee out of my nerves that began to settle in my body, the temperature in the car began to become freezing cold.

My father looked at the window, concern showing on his face and eyed Cane for a moment. “ Looks like a bad one, sure you can ride us home in this weather?”

Cane appeared determined, his grip on the steering wheel causing his knuckles to turn white.“ We’ll make it; don’t worry, it’ll pass over soon,” he reassured my father, his eyes meeting mine through the rearview mirror. My gaze stayed glued to his, and my throat felt suddenly dry. “ You okay back there, Sage?” His voice jolted me out of the dazed state” I’m fine but turn the heater please? it’s chilly in here,” I shivered as he turned the heater on to warm up the car.

As we drove on, fog began to roll in, causing the windows to mist up from the outside. Cane muttered a few soft curses, and cleared the fogged windows using the windshields.

While Cane struggled with the fog and the road conditions, it was becoming visibly harder to see through. The headlights flickered, barely able to cut through the dense fog, and the car’s tires skidded slightly along with the bumps on the road that shaken the car.

My father seemed tense, holding onto anything he could, we both looked at each other for a moment in concern.

“ Hold on,” Cane’s spoke in stress.” We’re heading into a tougher stretch.” No matter how well the heater worked, the inside of the car grew more freezing cold. I braced myself, gripping onto the seat as the car veered its way through the thick endless fog. A few sudden flickers of headlights made themselves known from an approaching vehicle for a moment and illuminated the scene, revealing a narrow road ahead. On the sides of the roads illuminated shadows looked like creatures of some sort.

My heart raced as I turned to look over at Cane, who was focused on staying clear on the road. In the distance, a dark figure of something animalist from the shape it formed had risen—a roadblock that prevented us from going further.

“ What the hell is that?!-“ My father’s voice peaked in panic.
Cane swerved to avoid it, causing the car to slide sideways dangerously close to the coming edge making us all jump in our seats. “ Cane!” I cried out.

As the air shifted, Cane managed to regain control, stopping in our continuous drive. The dark figure moved in towards us, it looked to be a large wolf, four red eyes each, staring right at us. It stomped its large paw down, letting out a low snarl. Saliva dripped down from its opened mouth, its tongue hanging out of its mouth, letting out a hot stream of breath.
