Seungcheol sat across from Vernon, arms crossed, already feeling the headache coming on. Seokmin was beside him, fiddling with his sleeves nervously, glancing between the two as if preparing for a battle.Vernon, slouched on the couch with an annoyingly carefree grin, looked like he hadn't a single care in the world. He looked like he would rather be anywhere but here. Seungcheol decided to dive right in.
"Vernon, we need to talk about Seungkwan. And the pills."
Vernon nodded lazily. "Yeah, I know. He hass been taking them for a while, but I didn't tell him to. He just... started." He shrugged. "He has got it handled, right?"
Seokmin blinked, already thrown off. "Uh, that's the problem. He shouldn't have to 'handle' it by himself. You are part of this too!"
Vernon tilted his head like they were speaking in another language. "But I have never asked him to do that. I don't mind if he gets pregnant. We are just living our best life, you know? No need to complicate things with all these rules."
Seungcheol groaned internally. This wasn't going to be easy. He decided to switch tactics. "Vernon, do you understand why Seungkwan is taking the pills?"
Vernon blinked slowly. "Because he doesn't want a baby, I guess?"
Seungcheol clapped once. "Exactly! So, maybe that is something you two should talk about? You know, like responsible adults?"
Vernon looked at him, dead serious, and replied, "But I am fine with having a baby. I don't see the problem. Why stress about something that is natural? We can just be wild and free!"
Seokmin stared at him, jaw dropping slightly. "Wild and free? Vernon, you are not camping. This is not a backpacking trip through the mountains!" He threw his hands in the air. "You can't just be like, 'Oops, there is a baby!' and expect everything to be chill!"
Vernon remained unbothered. "But what is the point of living in fear? If it happens, it happens. Why do we need to stop and think about it all the time?"
Seungcheol rubbed his temples. "Because Seungkwan is not ready for that, man. He is stressed out of his mind, feeling like you are not taking any of this seriously. He is doing all the work to make sure something doesn't happen, and you are just floating along like it's no big deal."
Vernon smiled casually. "Because to me, it's not. If he gets pregnant, I will be the happiest."
Seokmin leaned in, looking at Vernon like he was talking to a brick wall. "Vernon, do you understand that Seungkwan feels like he has to take those pills because you don't want to use protection?"
Vernon nodded slowly. "I don't want to use protection. I already said I am fine with it if we have a baby."
Seokmin stared, dumbfounded. "You... What? No, that's not... You are missing the entire point!"
Seungcheol cut in, his patience wearing thin. "Vernon, this isn't about you wanting a baby. It's about Seungkwan not wanting one right now. He has been trying to avoid it, and you are acting like it's just a casual conversation about what to have for dinner."
"Exactly!" Seokmin added, pointing at Seungcheol. "This is like saying, 'Oh, hey, do you want a pizza?' and Vernon is just like, 'Nah, surprise me with whatever.' But Seungkwan is over here freaking out because he doesn't want a pizza at all, and you are not even considering that!"
Vernon scratched his head. "But I thought we were fine. Why all the drama about it? Just... let things happen. Why stop the fun?"
Seungcheol looked like he was about to explode. "Vernon. This is not about fun. This is about Seungkwan's mental state, his health, and your responsibility in this relationship!"
Vernon crossed his arms, leaning back with a stubborn smile. "But we are wild and free, Seungcheol. Why tie everything down with plans? Isn't it more exciting when things just happen?"
Seokmin rubbed his face, muffling a scream into his hands. "This guy..."
Seungcheol leaned forward, trying to keep his voice calm, though it was clear he was holding back a volcanic eruption. "Vernon, being wild and free doesn't mean you ignore your partner's feelings. It doesn't mean you shrug off responsibility. You are acting like Seungkwan's concerns don't matter because you don't mind if something happens."
Vernon blinked slowly. "But... I do?"
Seokmin threw his hands up. "We know! You have said that like, ten times! But Seungkwan does mind, and that's what you are missing! He is not just there to follow your lead; you are supposed to be in this together. Walking side by side."
Vernon seemed to pause for a moment, processing their words. He opened his mouth, looking like he might finally get it... then said, "But still, why use protection if I am fine with a baby?"
Seungcheol stood up abruptly, muttering something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like a swear word. He took a deep breath and turned to Vernon. "Because Seungkwan is NOT fine with it! It's not about what you are okay with-it's about both of you being on the same page. You need to meet him halfway, Vernon."
Seokmin shook his head, half laughing, half exasperated. "This isn't about 'rules' or killing the fun, dude. It's about showing Seungkwan that you care about what he is feeling. He feels like he is alone in this, like he has to handle all the 'serious' stuff because you are too busy being... 'wild and free.'"
Vernon stared at them, and for a moment, Seungcheol thought maybe-just maybe-they were getting through to him.
But then Vernon said, "So... no protection?"
Seungcheol groaned, dramatically collapsing onto the couch. "I give up."
Seokmin slumped beside him. "You are impossible, man. Such a dick you are being right now."
Vernon, still clueless, looked between them. "What? Did I say something wrong?"
"Seokmin... Lend me a hand. Let's get out of here." Seungcheol said getting up and going out of the room with Seokmin. Leaving a confused Vernon left behind.
