“Am I getting anything out of this?”

I woke up at probably 8:35 that morning. Could I tell time based on the sun? Nope, did I try? Yep. I went to get up and tripped on what I thought was Mari’s mess of a hair do, but to my surprise it was a fox. I looked at it for a long moment, “What is this guy doing here Willow?” I asked with curiosity. She chuckled.

“That’s Fe’fe, she’s my pet fox. I found her a few weeks before I found you and your sister.” She was acting like what Mari would call a mother figure. I didn’t know if I liked that person then. I tried to get used to Willow, she was kind, the first person I saw since Mari and the raid. But she was different, not in a bad way but a kinda respective way.

“She’s fluffy.” Was all I said back though as I gently played with her fur, it was nice. Mari had just walked in, her long usually curly and frizzy hair nicely braided like Willow’s.

“So Savvy.” Mari started, I dreaded her wanting revenge. “I think we’re going to head out for the Skarika. (Northern Kingdom) After all, we’ve been here a few days and nothing is changing, if you want to make that change you’ve been bugging me on, this is your start. Imagine what we could do Salvito!” She was trying to bribe me. Ah yes, my lovely sister's words. I hated them. I wanted to say no but she had a point.

“Am I getting anything out of this?” I asked back, She deadpanned. I tried not to smirk at her annoyance as she handed me a small pouch of 5 coins. “Fair enough.” I muttered as Willow handed me a sword. “What do I do with this?” I asked before thinking.

“Were headed out, you never know what could hit us.” Mari said back as she had been in a change of clothes, probably from Willow. I had gotten into the ones she gave me too. They were a bit big since I was shorter than both of them but it wasn't bad.

“I understand, is there anything smaller you got Willow?” I asked about the clothes. She shook her head. I sighed but it was fine, so I walked out with them. Willow looked sick. She had an arrow thingie on her hip, her bow on her back and her sword on her other hip. It was odd walking with a sheath on my hip but i got used to it after a bit as we all walked. Willow was taking us to the old stables outside of town, I knew that. She held herself high, it was weird. Yeah, she was older but she didn't have to shove it in my face. Okay, maybe she wasn’t but it felt like it!!

“I have two horses here, either me and you can share one or you and your sister can.” Willow explained to me as we got there. I saw two great stallions. One purely black the other white and black. Mari got the white and black one, Willow hopped on the black. “You pick me and Smokey, or Mari and Dustbuddy.” She offered me, I hopped onto Smokey. We rode off, leaving Kiharn and headed to Skarika.

After a long and boring what felt like eternity we had to stop, fire had cut us off. “What the-” I tried to start but a huge roar cut us off.

“Fire-nighter!! (Type of dragon) We’ve gotta fight!” Willow shouted as she got off our horse, Mari got off Dustbuddy as I got off Smokey. I drew the sword that Willow gave me. She shot the dragon in the side to try and stop it as Mari and I had never fought before. I jumped in and hoped I did something right as I slashed. Warm gold liquid came after that.

“What did I just do?!”I asked frantically, it looked like blood.

“You took off it’s leg! How in the-” Mari started willow cut her off.

“No time, keep fighting it!” So we did, Mari got a few good hits and I did too. I kept trying to help, Slashing in ways that would hit the beast and more of that gold liquid flowed. Willow got one final hit that won us the fight and it dropped to the ground. Falling limp and slow, I took a talon from the dragon's paw.

I wiped the dried gold stuff off my face and breathed. “Well that was something…” Willow mumbled as she looked at me.

“No, that was AMAZING!!!!” I said back as we got on the horses. “I got to fight a dragon and I didn't die!!!”
