STILL PRESENT DAY
[Benson's P.O.V.]

I had stopped by my place to get some clothes and necessities I would need to stay with Jailah for the night. Jailah and Kaitlyn had already left the party, I left not far behind them. The entire drive I followed behind Jailah's car, tightly gripping the steering wheel. It was in that moment as I drove with blurred vision due to the tears in my eyes that I realized how much I cared about her.

Kaitlyn had decided to stay the night as well to give Jailah some extra company. I thought it was very gracious of her to do, she's a good friend. The three of us all sat in the living room, Kaitlyn entranced with the TV, Jailah fast asleep and I was entranced with Jailah.

I peered down at her motionless frame and faintly smiled at how cute she was with her slightly disheveled hair and the way her cheek squished against my shoulder making a fish like face.

"Benson," Kaitlyn began, "It's late you should probably wake her up."

"I don't want to." I stated.

"What are you gonna' do carry her?" She laughed.

"I mean, I probably could, but I don't want her to wake up like that."

She tsked, "No offense, but you're a golden retriever."

I laughed, "I mean, I don't know about that." I grinned.

"Hey, I never said it's a bad thing." She spoke, holding her hands up in defense.

"I think I'll just sleep out here on the couch." I stated.

"Okay, I can always sleep out here though. To be honest you know her better than me, we don't talk as much as you two do."

"There's a guest bedroom," I stated.

"That's Jailah's room." She smiled.

"Oh," I paused, "Yeah, you should just sleep in there with her then."

A devious smirk played across her lips as she stared at me with a mischievous glint in her eyes, "No, you should."

"Mm, no, I don't want her to think anything."

"She's freaking cuddled up next to you right now, she doesn't care, believe me."

"I still don't know." I chuckled nervously.

"You act like things are going to happen." She laughed. I had to admit her pushing this just rubbed me the wrong way, maybe it was just her being her though.

"I don't care," I paused, "You can sleep with her, I will sleep out here on the couch." I spoke, raising my voice slightly to get my point across. Suddenly, Jailah shuffled beside me, a small groan escaping past her lips as her eyes fluttered open.

"What's going on?" She groggily asked, rubbing her tired eyes.

"We're trying to figure out where everyone is going to sleep is all." I said, giving her a tight knitted smile.

"Oh," she nodded, "Either one of you can sleep with me, I really don't care who does." She shrugged.

"Benson can, I plan on leaving early in the morning and I don't want to wake you up." I felt a ball of fire from in my gut. Even if Jailah said she didn't care, it still urked me. Maybe I was just being over reactive, but I didn't want to send the wrong message.

"Okay, that's fine." Jailah spoke, "You fine with that?" She asked peering up at me with heavy eyes.

"As long as you are." I lied, shrugging my shoulders. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Kaitlyn observe us with a satisfied smirk. I couldn't help but I chuckle at her own amusement.
