Siddharth's voice was firm as he declared, "I am taking her back, and you can't stop that." His words elicited a low chuckle from me. "You think you're taking her? No, she's sitting over there because I allowed her to go, not because you're here to take her," I replied calmly, noticing her watching our exchange.

He scoffed, his tone defiant. "Whatever you think, Mr. Malik, but I won't tolerate your torment of my sister. We accepted you once, but you betrayed us without even explaining why."

"When the time comes, you'll learn the truth yourself, Mr. Malhotra," I said, just as Ananya began yelling at him.

"Now go. My wife is waiting; don't keep her waiting. And don't think for a moment that I'm letting her go forever," I stated coldly. He said nothing more and turned to leave.

I watched them depart from a distance, my security guards trailing them discreetly. I couldn't afford any lapses in my wife's security.

Lighting a cigar, I exhaled the smoke, recalling the day we uncovered more clues about her father. I was close to dismantling everything.

I had let her return to her family because she missed them and to shield her from the underworld's dangers. I couldn't allow her to get entangled in political conflicts.

My uncle had been trying to meet her and had contacted me several times about it, but I didn't think it wise to let them meet. She was already fragile after witnessing me kill the guard.

She hadn't spoken to me in days, not even sparing me a glance, shutting herself away completely.

That's why I thought she might improve if she spent some time with her family, but not for too long. I—I couldn't bear being without her, without her little glares and the way she mumbled insults under her breath, thinking I couldn't hear.

"Boss, what are you going to do now? We confirmed her father visited the farmhouse—" Lucius began, but I clenched my jaw and cut him off.

"He still doesn't remember me. He just thinks I'm a business rival, nothing more. Don't worry about it; I'll handle it," I said before leaving.

I opened the door to my room, greeted by silence. I sighed and took out the tie from my pocket, staring at it for a few moments.

I already miss you, Mia Cara.

But don't worry, your husband will be there soon to bring you back.
