ANANYA

The divorce attorney was explaining the procedure for the divorce, I couldn't help but feel a knot form in my stomach. The room seemed to close in on me, and I could almost hear my own heartbeat pounding in my ears.

My brother sat next to me, his hand resting reassuringly on my shoulder. I could feel my parents' eyes on me, watching me closely, trying to gauge my reaction.

The lawyer droned on, using legal jargon that I found difficult to follow, which only added to my increasing feelings of unease.

The attorney spoke in a monotone voice, listing out the various steps and procedures that we would have to follow in order to initiate the divorce. I listened half-heartedly, my mind racing with a million thoughts and worries.

My brother was also paying attention to the attorney, occasionally nodding his head and asking the occasional question. My parents were sitting quietly, listening intently to the lawyer's words.

Suddenly, the lawyer fixed his gaze on me and spoke directly to me. "Ms. Ananya, do you have any questions or concerns about the divorce procedure?"

"No, I don't have"I replied.

The lawyer nodded, seemingly satisfied with my response. "Alright then, let's move on to the next step," he said, shuffling through the papers on his lap.

My brother leaned over to me, his voice low so that only I could hear him. "You okay?" he asked, his eyes filled with concern."Yes"I nodded at my brother, offering him a weak smile. He squeezed my shoulder reassuringly before turning back to listen to the lawyer.

The attorney continued to explain the next steps in the divorce process, but I found it hard to concentrate. My mind was a whirl with thoughts and emotions, and I could feel my anxiety rising.

I took a deep breath and tried to focus on the attorney's words, trying to calm my racing heart.

The attorney droned on, his voice becoming background noise as my thoughts spiraled out of control. I clenched my fists, trying to control my emotions.

My parents were still sitting quietly, their expressions neutral but I could see the worry in their eyes. My brother was sitting next to me, trying to act nonchalant but I could feel his gaze on me every few seconds.

The lawyer closed his briefcase with a snap and got up from his chair. "Okay, I think that's all for now. I'll head over to the court and begin the necessary proceedings," he said, gathering his papers.

My parents nodded, their expressions still neutral. "Thank you for your time," my brother said, rising to show the lawyer to the door.

"Who said that she can get a divorce?"
