“Wallpaper wali didi?” The chai I was sipping almost made me choke when I heard that familiar voice, Vyaan. My head snapped toward the door, where Vyaan stood, his face lit with a playful smirk, his mischievous eyes locked on Jaanvi.
I shifted my gaze from him to Jaanvi, watching as confusion washed over her face.
Vyaan sauntered inside, stopping just next to her, pointing a finger toward Jaanvi as if he had made the biggest discovery. “Wallpaper wali didi?” he repeated, his eyes darting to me with a glint of mischief.
Jaanvi turned to me, her eyes now filled with a mix of confusion and curiosity. My eyes widened in response.
I immediately stood up and walked briskly toward them. “Excuse me,” I said to Jaanvi, flashing a quick, awkward smile before grabbing Vyaan by the arm and practically dragging him into the kitchen.
Once inside, I leaned closer and hissed, “Are you crazy?” making sure to keep my voice low enough so Jaanvi couldn't hear us from the living room.
Vyaan, however, seemed unfazed by my frustration, his grin widening even more. “Bhai, I’m impressed! I honestly thought you’d never make a move, just keep her as your wallpaper forever. But look at you—she’s here, in your house. Wow!” He beamed, his grin turning more teasing by the second.
I could only groan inwardly, trying to process how to deal with both Vyaan’s antics and Jaanvi’s confusion all at once.
“Stop, Vyaan. She doesn’t know anything,” I said firmly, hoping to make him understand. His brows furrowed, eyes widening in confusion. “Wait, what? Then why is bhabhi here?”
I rubbed my temple instinctively, feeling the tension rise. “It’s complicated,” I muttered, glancing at him. His puzzled expression mirrored the chaos in my head. “Just—don’t say a word about this in front of her, okay?”
He studied me for a moment before finally nodding. “Got it.”
With a sigh of relief, I nodded back, and together, we walked out of the kitchen.
I caught Jaanvi’s gaze, her eyes filled with curiosity, clearly wondering what was going on. I eased back into my chair, trying to lighten the mood. "He just misunderstood you, that’s all," I said with a soft chuckle, attempting to brush off the situation. Her lips curved into a small, reassuring smile as she nodded.
Before I could say more, I started to introduce my brother. "By the way, this is my younger brother—"
But before the words left my mouth, Vyaan jumped in, flashing his signature grin and stepping forward confidently. "I'm Vyaan, Vyaan Pratap Singh," he said, his voice full of energy, as he extended his hand toward her.
I observed Jaanvi closely, scanning her face to see if she was comfortable with the sudden introduction. Her initial surprise softened into a welcoming expression. She smiled back at him, her eyes bright. Slowly, she extended her hand, meeting him in a firm but gentle handshake.
