A week later, the trio was ready for their first official club meeting. They had invited a few kids from school-mostly classmates who seemed like they could use a place to belong, just like Alex had when he first moved.

Tara, always the optimist, had expected at least ten kids to show up. But as the afternoon wore on, only two kids arrived: Sarah, a quiet girl from their class who often sat alone, and Jake, a kid who lived down the street from Eli.

Tara tried not to let her disappointment show. "Well, it's a start," she said, forcing a smile. "We'll grow. Right?"

Eli patted her on the shoulder. "Hey, two's better than none. And besides, we get to test out our cleanup plan without a huge crowd."

Alex, sensing Tara's disappointment, jumped in. "Yeah, and once people see how cool it is, they'll want to come next time. Let's make today fun."

With that, they set off into the woods, rakes and trash bags in hand, ready to clear the area around their cabin. Sarah and Jake were quiet at first, unsure of what to expect. But soon enough, the trio's enthusiasm rubbed off on them.

As they worked, they talked and laughed, telling stories about how they had found the cabin and sharing their plans for the club. Sarah, who had barely spoken a word when she arrived, slowly started to open up, sharing that she loved drawing and might be able to help decorate the cabin with some artwork. Jake, who had a knack for fixing things, offered to help repair the old shelves they had found in the storage room.

By the end of the afternoon, the small group had cleared a large patch of the woods around the cabin, and everyone was smiling. Tara's disappointment had faded, replaced by the satisfaction of seeing their idea come to life.

"Okay, so maybe we didn't get a huge crowd," Eli said, tossing his rake aside, "but this was awesome."

Alex nodded, glancing at Sarah and Jake. "Yeah, I think we've got something good here. It doesn't matter how many people show up-we'll keep making this place better."

Sarah smiled shyly. "I can bring some of my sketches next time. Maybe we could hang them up in the cabin?"

Tara grinned. "That would be amazing! See, this is what it's all about. We're building something cool, and we'll keep growing. One step at a time."

As they said goodbye to Sarah and Jake, the trio felt more hopeful than ever. The club had officially begun, and even though it was small, it was a start.
