"Good morning Dave!" Aaron greeted him.
"It's a Monday morning, why are you so happy?" Dave came over to drop some files.
"Thanks- I guess I'm having a good day, that's all." Aaron smiled. "Hey have you heard from Emily?" Aaron maintained his smile but it faded slightly.
Dave tilted his head, wondering why his face changed.
"Today? Not at all." Dave answered.
"Not just today, but during the weekends? I don't know, I might be overthinking it. She had brunch with her mother and I'm worried she said something hurtful to Em." He shook his hesd, shoving down any negative thoughts.
"Oh is that so? I had lunch with her on Saturday and she didn't mention anything about her mother visiting."
"You had lunch with her on Saturday?" Aaron's head shot up.
"Yeah why?"
He paused, looking at Rossi's eyes but his mind was elsewhere. "Nothing."
"Okay I'm gonna go, I haven't had my daily dose of crossword puzzle with Reid.. if you don't hear from me in an hour, I'm dead." Rossi chuckled at his own comments.
"Alright see ya." Hotch said.
Hotch's eyes followed him out, tracking his steps but stopped as he reached Emily's desk. The empty desk got him thinking: why did she lie to him? Why hasn't he heard from her? Is she okay?
"Hotch!" JJ yelled, snapping her fingers.
"Yeah?" Aaron shook his head and looked at her.
"I've been calling you for the past minute- c'mon we have a case." JJ said before walking out. She then double-backed since he didn't move a muscle, "Hotch! Everyone's waiting already. We have to go."
Everyone.. that includes Emily.
"Coming." He said, shutting his files and walked out.
As he walked in the round-table room, his eyes scanned the room. An empty chair was seen in between Morgan and Prentiss.
"Morning." He turned to Emily.
"Hi." She whispered coldly.
JJ started the briefing, introducing the team to a new murder case.
Aaron turned his head to the right and saw Emily's focused face. Not the time Aaron, focus. He cleared his throat.
Emily fought to not look at him. She promised that last Friday was it. She was his for one night and one night only. Prentiss bit her tongue and inner cheek in order to maintain a solemn face. It was killing her. The urge to look into those brown eyes again, to kiss those soft lips, to run into his embrace...
"Luckily, the Chicago PD has invited us in. Captain McGintley is waiting for us." JJ concluded her briefing.
"Alright everyone get your go-bags, wheels up in thirty." He said.
Everyone rushed to gather their things.
"Emily." He said softly.
She didn't respond. He couldn't tell whether she was ignoring him, or if she didn't hear what he said. Emily left the room in a hurry, carrying case files in one arm and a cup of coffee in the other.
Aaron clicked his tongue in frustration; why wasn't she answering him?
"Emily." He said a bit louder.
He noticed that she paced her steps, leading him no choice but to stop her himself.
"Hey what the fuck-" She blurted out.
