TW: namecalling
Hotch was in his natural habitat - sitting in his dim lit office, with an overpriced pen in hand. His head was clearly half dead since his handwriting became more and more lousy.
Times like this gets tough. When Haley was still at home, waiting for him, he had motivation. But now, there's nothing but a glass of whiskey waiting at home.
"You better call it a night soon, sir." Anderson said softly.
It caught him off guard, "Didn't know you were here. Go home Anderson, I was just finishing up." It was a lie that he himself didn't buy.
"Yes Aaron, goodnight." The man went home.
He has lost hope. Truly, what was the point of living anymore?
Then his mind comes to Jack. Sweet, baby Jack. His best friend, the only human being that brings him pure serotonin. But also, his mind couldn't help but picture another woman holding Jack; Emily.
They've been at a couple gatherings together, one was with Jack. Rossi's was a place the team turns to for comfort and security. He always felt comfortable bringing Jack, and introducing him to Emily was the best decision he's made recently. It brought her, Jack, and himself joy. Seeing her being so good with him made the old feelings came back.
He can't help but wonder what life would be like with her in it..
"Aaron? Wake up Aaron.." He heard someone whispering while shaking his body. "Aaron.. hey bud."
It was Emily.
"Hey are you alright? Need me to drive you home?"
"What? No.." He said. "What's the time?"
"Seven." She replied, smiling softly at his red-ish face.
She took a good look at his state. His hair is messy, tie loosened, shirt wrinkled. There were traces of his wrinkled shirt on his cheeks.
"Hotch, you fell asleep on your desk. I doubt this is the first time it's happened." She kneeled down, trying to level their eye contact. "Let me take you home.."
"No need Prentiss, I'm perfectly fine." He dismissed his yawns.
"Hotch don't push it, you're gonna get sick."
"No, I'm fine, really." He said, smiling slightly. She gave him an unsure look, knowing he's better off in his bed. "Really." He reassured her.
"Just let me know if you need anything." She stood back up, preparing to leave before she turned back. "Really." She copied.
"Thank you. Prentiss." There was a long pause and a wide smile in the deliverance of those three words.
"Of course, anything." She said, tucking her hair behind her ear.
Her body left his office, but her head didn't. She was thinking about him, worried. He hasn't slept well, and judging by his wardrobe, he's been staying at his office for a few days now.
"Rossi, can I ask for a huge favour?" She came over to his office.
"Yes?" He dropped what he was doing and turned his chair to face her.
"I need the key to Hotch's house. I know you have it so please give it up! I'm worried about him, and I know you are too." She rambled on to convince him. "I can bring him fresh sets of clothes, maybe some food since I noticed he hasn't eaten much.."
