Emily has gone home from the hospital. Aaron insists on staying at her place, but she refused.
"Aaron, you already took two weeks off, I can't let you do this." She said as he cooked dinner.
She's been home for a couple days, slowly recovering.
It was a Wednesday night, Aaron immediately went over to her apartment after work. He hasn't been working late since Emily got out of the hospital.
"Don't you have other stuff to do? Like paperworks? I'm sure Morgan kicked down more doors and you'll need to write some damage report."
"I'm perfectly fine right here." He turned around, serving penne on her plate.
"Rossi's special." He smiled cheesily.
"He taught you?"
"I forced him to make me a tutorial video." He laughed.
She admired the man standing infront of her.
It's always complicated between these two. Aaron would take time off work (which is usually impossible), and Emily would open up to him (which she doesn't do to any man), they would do what married couples do: sacrifices.
As much as they hate to admit it, they're in love. They haven't exactly said the words, but they know. Their actions speaks for itself.
"Eat up." He waited nervously.
"Aren't you gonna join me?" She said, patting the bar stool next to her.
"I will, just try it first."
She took a bite, purposely making weird faces just to annoy Aaron.
"It's good Aaron." She said solemnly.
"Really?" A smile crept on his face, "Don't lie to me Emily." He sat down next to her, his eyes can't seem to look away from her side profile.
"It's amazing." She placed her hand on his cheek, her thumb brushing against his hair.
His smile faded. His eyes looked down at her lips.
Silence filled the room.
"I love you Emily." He looked back up to her raven eyes.
He saw so many mixed feelings in those eyes. But he knows that she loved him too, it's just buried somewhere in there.
Her lips opened but no words came out.
She smiled.
"So I'm going back on the field next week." She said, redirecting his attention to something else.
He smiled. Ofcourse she's deflecting..
"You sure you're ready? You can take more time, we understand." He said.
"I'm ready. If I stay here any longer, I will rot and die. Seriously Aaron." She chuckled.
Say it back.. did you not hear me? I'm in love you with you, Emily Elisabeth Prentiss.
"Okay then." He chuckled.
"Thank you again, for making me dinner."
"Of course." He said. "I'm here." He scanned her eyes.
She smiled, comtinuing to eat her dinner.
