"Welcome Emily!" Rossi opened the door, welcoming her into his mansion.
It was Saturday night, though it was not the same weekend as planned. Two months had passed; the team has had a rush of cases and that had to be prioritised.
Finally, the wave has calmed down and everyone seems to need a team gathering.
The divorce has been finalised as well; Aaron Hotchner is officially a single man.
It was Emily's first time. Not to Rossi's house, but ever. Emily has never been a part of a group that's this involved with her life. When she's around them, she feels at home.. they are her found family.
"Hi! Oh my gosh Rossi you weren't kidding when you said you have a mansion." Emily gave him a quick hug.
"Want a tour?" He offered.
"Wine first please." She smiled.
Rossi lead her to the seating area near his kitchen, where everyone was.
"There she is!" Garcia came over to her with a huge smile on her face.
"Hi Penelope!" Emily was equally excited.
"I'm gonna get started on the food. No one- I mean NO ONE goes near the kitchen!" Rossi threatened jokingly. "Except Aaron, he's the only one that has a sense of logic." Everyone chuckled.
Emily chuckled as she saw him dive into his natural habitat. She watched him for a while in the kitchen.
"You're making this from scratch?" She was surprised.
"Yes. Store-bought pasta doesn't taste as authentic. This way, we get to eat like kings and queens. Besides, it doesn't take that long." Rossi kneaded the pasta dough.
"Need help with anything?"
"Like I said, Aaron and I are the only ones allowed beyond the counter." Rossi gave her a look.
"But you don't even know how well I cook!" She smiled.
"I like you Emily.. let's keep is that way." Rossi smiled.
"Fine.." She laughed, walking out of the kitchen. The first person she saw was the coo-ing baby on Aaron's lap.
"Oh is this-" Emily's gaze softened as she saw the baby.
"Emily, meet Jack! Jack... this is my dear friend Emily." Hotch smiled, looking back and forth between the woman and his baby.
"Hi bubba! Can I?" She held out her hands.
"Of course, here.." Aaron helped her get into a comfortable position.
"Ohooho hi baby!" She smiled wider than ever.
"He likes you! He's usually so cranky around new people.." He said, staring at Jack's smile.
"Well I'm not exactly new.." Emily whispered, jokingly winked at Aaron.
"Oh stop.." He chuckled.
The two seems to finally enjoy each other's company. They've never gotten a chance to really sit down and talk besides work.
"Remember when-" Emily started.
"I do." He says, not even knowing what's next.
"I didn't even finish.."
"You were gonna say: remember the night where you snuck out, I picked you up and went to the beach until sunrise?" He guessed.
"How'd you know?!" She was truly amazed.
