╰┈➤ 5th september

Her head rips up from the soft pillow at the sound of a cupboard door slamming shut loudly. Dude.

She peeps out of her window and sees that the sun is rising in the sky slowly, an orange tint filling her room beautifully.

But you know what isn't beautiful? The sight of Natsuki almost falling into the toilet as the seat is up.

"Shit!" She flails her arms about and crashes onto the ground painfully. "Ah, fuck!" She clutches her knee as she sits up on the floor, her face scrunching up into a painful grimace. Classic dude behavior leaving the toilet seat up, isn't it?

She climbs back up to her feet, rubbing her bruising knee through her pajamas, and puts the toilet seat back down before doing her business. Really, how hard is it to put the seat down after you've had a piss?

She quickly washes her hands and heads out of the bathroom, trying to ignore the growing pain in her knee and focus on walking over to the kitchen. She glances at the sofa and sees Gojo laying down in his pajamas, eating some toast and watching some random drama that even she wouldn't watch at her grown age.

She doesn't say anything as she grabs some bread and flings it into the toaster. If she were to say something, it may end in a longer chat, which would lead to longer chats every day, and then she'd become his friend, and then she'd end up—

"Morning, Natsuki." He waves over to her, not daring to rip his eyes from the screen in fear of missing even a small part of his favorite teen romance.

Oh! He's calling her by her first name already?!

She turns to him with a small annoyed look on her face as her knee twinges in pain, "Morning, Gojo, how did you sleep?" A hint of annoyance laces her voice, but he chooses to ignore it and pauses his show to turn and lean on the back of the sofa, watching her as she spreads butter onto her toast.

"I was working late, and I have to go in early again today, so not too good." She nods and sits at their two-seater kitchen table and stares back at him. "Mmm, I noticed."

He suppresses a giggle as she bites into her toast angrily.

"How about you, Natsuki?" He tilts his head only slightly. "How was your sleep?"

She giggles sarcastically and squints. "It was..." She debates whether or not to call him out on his loudness or not, "disturbed." She notices his confused expression and mentally slaps herself in the face. Ugh! She's meant to be civil with him but seems to be failing.

"Oh! But I'm lucky my work ends at seven at the latest, so I never have to stay in later than that." He nods as she desperately explains herself, her toast falling out of her hand and onto her plate.

"You are lucky." He rests his chin on his hand. "Where do you work then? Maybe I should be working there with you." He chuckles sarcastically as her face drops.

Civil. Not friends. Not enemies. Simply civil.

"Oh, I just work at some café down the street."

Truth is, he does know the café she's on about despite having never even walked past it, but she doesn't have to know that. "I know the one you're on about. It's the nice one with the plants, right?" He gets up from his seat and sits on the chair in front of her.

"I didn't expect you to know it!" She chuckles and nods as he smiles proudly. "Yeah, of course I do. I'll have to come order whilst you're working one day."

Too close, Natsuki. Far too close.

Just remember how annoyed you were when you fell into the toilet this morning.

Her face drops automatically. "Mmh. I don't know. Do what you want, it doesn't really bother me."

Too mean! Too, too mean!

"I mean! Sh—sh—sure. Just give me a warning if you do." He nods as she stumbles over her words. "Will do."

He decides to leave it there, getting up from his seat and going back to his room, not wanting her to feel too pressured or anything.

Shit. What on earth was that?
