Thankfully, after thinking about all of her old friends again last night, she had eventually fallen into a deep sleep, only waking up when Gojo had banged a little too loudly in his room.

BANG!!!

"The fuck?" She sits up in temporary confusion before it hits her.

That's Gojo in his room banging about AGAIN.

She climbs out of bed, only briefly glancing at the clock. It's 7:45. It's not that early, but still. At any time of the day, what could be causing him to be so loud? It can't be a girl since she hadn't seen one come in last night, and it's not like he's Frankenstein creating a crazy creature.

No. It's just him being annoying and not wanting her to sleep.

Double no! Jesus, is she really still so tired that it's controlling her emotions?

Shaking her head to clear it, she exits her own room and walks up to the door of his, her fist debating whether or not to be petty and knock to tell him to be more quiet or just to simply drop it.

With a mind of its own, her fist knocks against the door.

She curses under her breath, grabbing her fist with her other hand. What happened to CIVIL? She's gone too far both ways now.

The door swings open, revealing Satoru in his work attire, the top button undone, revealing the same deep collarbones he had sent her a photo of the other day. "Good morning, Natty. What's up with you?"

He stares down at her through his sunglasses, which of course he has on at 7:50 in the morning. He shifts his weight onto his right foot, leaning against the door frame as if he's trying to conceal the inside of his room. It must be a real mess in there, considering how much he likes to splash toothpaste on the bathroom mirror and leave the toilet seat up. And most importantly, how he has a tendency to bang around late at night.

Shit, wait. She forgot to respond!

Snapping back to reality, she looks up at him with red ears as he cuts her off before she can even get out the first word of her sentence, "You're still tired? You should go back to bed."

"Well..." She lets out the deep breath she isn't even aware she's been holding, "I wanted to talk to you about that actually."

His look transforms quickly from concern to confusion as his eyebrows knot together. "Go on," he waves an encouraging hand at her.

"Well, it's just," she takes another breath before looking up at the shadows of his eyes she can see behind his sunglasses, "I did ask you before to please be quiet in your room. And I just..."

She wants to blurt out how these days, the guilt of leaving and missing her friends is eating her up at night, skinning her and tearing her from limb to limb emotionally... but of course she can't say that to Satoru. She may have accepted that she failed at not befriending him, but she doesn't accept him as a close friend to share everything with. That always ends with chaos.

He chuckles slightly at her anxious appearance, trying as hard as he can to save the deeper emotions for later when he's in private and not risking breaking Natty's already delicate mind.

He wants nothing more than to hug her and explain everything to her and plead with her not to hate him, for her to know his full truth, and for her to know that he knows more than most about her full truth.

But that's not an option.

What is an option, though, is making her giggle.

Here is the autocapitalized version of your text:

"I'm sorry for being loud, Natty. I swear I'm not doing it on purpose. I know you need your beauty sleep and all, but I have to say... my noises aren't quite as bad as yours."

Her face twists in confusion. Out of the hundreds of scenarios she had thought out in her head, this was not even remotely like any one of them.

"What do you mean my own noises? I only just woke up..." She scratches the back of her head and he can't help but chuckle deviously again.

"I mean!" He points at her, leaning into her personal space, "that you, Natsuki Hirai, are a snorer!"

She jumps back at his teasing lie, her mouth opening wide in disbelief. "A snorer? I am NOT a snorer! I may be a talker but that's another story..." Gojo chuckles at the newfound information before continuing to tease her, "Yep, you're a total snorer! I guess the thin walls don't help," he taps on one of them, "but neither does your loud mouth!"

He only just manages to tap her bottom lip before she swats it off groggily. "You're lying," she says it almost like a command, commanding herself not to believe the lie.

He nods up and down eagerly, clasping his hands together like a child who's just won a medal. "You're right, I'm joking."

He says it so nonchalantly that she almost can't get mad at him. Ugh, silly boy.

"I'm gonna get you, Gojo." She reaches up and flicks his neck gently, not wanting to hurt him. But god, if she wanted to, she would.

How embarrassing is that? Believing that maybe your own snores woke you up and not Gojo and his weird banging.

"Oh really?" He flicks her forehead, which she instantly grabs as it stings painfully. God, that was harsh. "Shit, sorry." He glides his cool thumb over the burning, thumb-shaped mark.

She giggles and pulls his hand off.

This time it's him being too close.

She glances down at both his and her pinkies and memories from the other night flash back. If they can do that, then surely he should be allowed to do... that.

"You did kind of deserve it for using my surname though." He smiles, tensing his hand open and closed as he looks at her with fake annoyance, rolling his eyes sarcastically.

"Oh shit, yeah, sorry." She cringes at the fact she called her friend by his surname, Gojo.

Gojo, Gojo, Gojo. It has a familiar ring to it.

"It's fine, Hirai," he says with a blank expression, obviously trying to annoy her, but she just giggles and points at him threateningly, "Watch it, you!"

She yawns as he chuckles at her poor attempt at being intimidating. "You know, I'm glad we talked, Natty. Rather than you leaving me a note like before."

"Oi! That was a good way to communicate with a stranger!"

A stranger. Shit.

That's all he's been to her until recently.

Or well... this new 'all previous memories of Satoru'-free version of her.

"True. True." He watches as she yawns again and smiles down at her. "You get back to bed now, Natty. I promise to be quiet, okay?"

"Okay, Satoru." She smiles back, waving up at him with embarrassingly sweaty palms. "Goodnight then!"

He watches as she only takes a couple of steps back into her own door frame. "Goodnight, Natty. Make sure not to snore again, or I might have to embarrass you again."

"Oh, shush you!"
