Her delicate finger dances along her window sill, small dust particles fluttering down onto her thigh, her pajama shorts not covering enough of her thigh to protect it, the dust tickling her gently.

Wiping it off as she stands up, a small sigh escapes her lips.

It had been nice talking to Kukomi until five in the morning and waking up at three in the afternoon, which is when she realized she could go home, but once she had left, her room felt awfully quiet.

Yuji soon came over, playing Mario Kart with Satoru loudly, but that didn't feel as good. Probably because of the kid's weird vibe, which she still has no rational explanation for other than that maybe she's just simply not a kid person.

You know what kind of person she is, though?

A smoke-your-feelings-away kind of person.

Thanks for that one, Shoko.

Patting the pack of mochi Satoru had kindly got her, she grabs a box of cigarettes and takes one out, holding it delicately between her lips as she heads to the living room to go on the balcony.

She can't help but chuckle at the sight of Yuji sleeping on the floor, very obviously having fallen off of the sofa in his sleep.

Brushing off the creepy feeling lingering on her back, she opens the door to the balcony and—oh!

Satoru jumps when he sees her, quickly tilting his head down and wiping both his eyes and the insides of his sunglasses before looking up at her as she closes the door.

She sits down next to him, both of their backs pressed against the wall behind them, not saying a word as the cool wind blows through them, whipping their hair every which way.

The full moon shines above, its beautiful craters like eyes, staring down and admiring them.

She pulls her eyes away from the moon and over to Satoru. She removes the unlit cigarette from her lips, "Can't sleep?"

He shakes his head as she finally lights her cigarette, placing it in her mouth as he speaks quietly, "Nah, I'm just thinking about something." He looks up to the moon, the whites of his eyes bloodshot and watery.

Blowing a cloud of smoke away from him, she looks up at the moon with him. "You wanna—" Shit, she doesn't want to pressure him or anything, "You wanna talk about it?"

He shakes his head, finally turning to her, their eyes locking behind his glasses, "It's just work stress. You know how it is."

Of all people, fuck yes, she understands work stress.

"I get it." She takes the cigarette between her fingers and places her hand beside Satoru's. "Satoru." She nudges his pinky with her own, and they turn to each other, both of their breathing loud and heavy in the crisp, quiet night.

"Mmh?" She links their pinkies and smiles at him, her eyes itching to water as his eyes are hardly even able for her to see.

"You've always got me, okay. Whenever. Wherever."

He doesn't say a word, but the single tear that rolls from his eye, down his cheek, and eventually splashes on their interlocked pinkies says enough.
