Despite how tempted she was to spend the rest of her night wracking her last few brain cells for a single gratifying memory of her mystery classmate, Natsuki had decided to go to bed early, even drawing the curtains to block out the evening sun. Now, she finds herself walking down the road, a little pep in her step as she heads towards the shop.
This morning, she'd found only about two pieces of her favorite cereal left in the box and had felt disappointed, for lack of a better word. Since Gojo wasn't home, and she knew she couldn't deal with the horrible silence he left behind whenever he went out, she decided to head to the shops to buy some groceries. Very grown-up of her, she thought.
She grabs a shopping cart and pushes it into the store, her feet grazing the floor as she leans on the cart, silently begging it doesn't tip over.
She giggles to herself and wheels it over to the noodles, grabbing handfuls and placing them in the cart. After all, she hates when her ramen gets broken up too much, making it impossible to slurp like in the comedies she enjoys watching so much.
Turning the corner and heading to the next aisle, a certain white-haired man catches her eye. He looks at her for only a nanosecond before recognizing her and waving. "Hey, Natsuki!" Gojo approaches her, deciding not to laugh at her deer-in-headlights expression in fear of hurting her feelings. He leans on the end of her cart, peering at her over the top of his glasses, his blue eyes almost stabbing into her skin. She nearly flinches.
"What're you doing here?" he asks.
She snaps out of her daydream and looks back at him. "I was running out of food, so I decided to come shopping."
"Oh, really?" He straightens up, holding his arms out stiffly. "Next time, just tell me, and I'll grab them for you." He says it nonchalantly, but his hands grip tightly onto her cart, cringing at himself. What is he even yapping about?
"I would, but I don't have your number." Her ears go bright red as the words spill out of her mouth in a slightly annoyed tone.
Shit. She slams her hands over her mouth as he pulls out his phone. Before he unlocks it, she gets a brief glimpse at his wallpaper. It shows three people sitting in front of a pond with three fish in it. One's white, one's black, and one's blue. In that order, they all seem to be swimming away from the one behind it.
As Natsuki glances at the wallpaper again, one figure with short, spiky white hair is obviously Gojo, but the boy with long hair tied in a funny bun... and the other figure with hair dyed electric blue, tied into two low plaits, catches her attention. Recognition slaps her across the face. "Geto...?"
Her eyebrows furrow as Gojo adds a contact into his phone and passes it to her, inviting her to input her number. Reluctantly, she types it in.
There is no way Gojo knew Geto. She spent all her time either with Komiki or Geto before they both died. It must be a coincidence. Surely, there's no other explanation.
She hands him back his phone, and he puts her name in as 'Natty!!'—cute.
He stuffs his phone into his pocket. "I'll text you later, so if something like this happens again, you can let me know. Come on, let's get some stuff. What do you need? Hopefully no more noodles." He chuckles, pointing at the absurd amount of noodles in her cart.
She shakes her head, giggling. "No! But, I do need..." She grabs her shopping list from her pocket and reads it aloud, "Cereal, ingredients for baking, fruit, and oven food."
Gojo grabs the notepad and pen from her hands, leaning against the cart as he scribbles something down. When he hands them back, she rolls her eyes at the added item.
