Never once in your life had you ever thought of making something for someone.

Perhaps it was because you were raised that way. All your life, gifts are just material things to you. Something you can buy with money, something you can give without much thought, something you can receive with no feelings from the one who gave it to you.

Whether it was given to you or you had given it to someone, they're just simply that. Things. Nothing more and nothing less than that. Something that will fade away in time, like all things do eventually.

Yet now, you barely had a wink of sleep last night after thinking about how you would make something for Satoru for Valentine's. A gift.

This time around, you didn't want your gift to just be a thing. You want your gift to carry a thought. A sort of thought that you couldn't really explain but there it was in the corner of your mind that kept your mind awake all night.

That morning, while you and Satoru were eating breakfast, you thought about how you could leave the house without him tagging along.

Of all the things you could have thought, it was the most obvious question.

"Are you not going somewhere today?"

Your question wouldn't have sounded too suspicious had you phrased it differently. Or had you started it from a normal conversation and not just straight out asked him if he's not going somewhere today. Your question even sounded as though you were urging him to actually go somewhere rather than just simply asking where he is going.

"Are you?" Satoru asked back.

Your gaze however subconsciously averted to the side before you quickly turned your gaze back to Satoru. "Oh I was thinking of going... grocery shopping."

Satoru stopped for a moment. "You know that servants can do that."

"As the lady of the house—"

"Alright, have fun."

You almost said it is indeed fun. You remembered tagging along with your grandmother when you were young while she went grocery shopping, which wasn't often but during those seldom times you felt like a normal child raised in a normal household. Although what seemed normal to most kids your age back then was unusual to you as someone who was raised in such a traditional household.
