Author's POV
The long table is elegantly set, with Kartik and Aditi sitting at opposite ends. Karan and Kritika are sitting next to Aditi, exchanging glances and grinning at their siblings.Karan- "Look at them, Kritika. They’re practically shooting sparks across the table. It’s adorable." He leaned towards her.
Kritika- "Adorable is one way to put it. More like a rom-com waiting to happen." She smirked.
Daya- "Well... Aditi... ? Khana kaisa bana hai ?" She made her come from her own world back to the earth.
Aditi- "I just think the Dal fry is..... really nice tonight." She blushed when she found Kartik's gaze on her.
Kartik- "You mean it’s nice enough to distract from the company ?" He smirked.
Karan- "Ooooh, shots fired ! Aditi bhabhi, ab aap kaise defend karengi ?"
Aditi- "I think I’ll stick to the food for now. It’s safer." She playfully rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile.
Kartik- "You know, they say the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. You're off to a good start !" He leaned slightly.
Kritika- "Wait, does that mean you’re accepting your fate, Aditi di ?" She giggled.
Aditi- "My fate ? What fate ? The one... jaha mein ek dinner-date comedian ke saath fasi huyi hu ?"
Karan- "A comedian ? You mean he’s not a full-time chef ?" He mocked with a surprise.
Kartik- "I could be a chef. Aditi might make me one, you know." He put a faux serious face.
Aditi- "Only if you promise not to set the kitchen on fire." She said playfully.
Karan- "Just imagine.... Agar Kartik bhai ne galti se aag laga bhi di.... It would be like....Kartik’s Great Kitchen Disaster !"
Daya- "Ye toh ek tittle ki tarah ho gaya na...?"
Sanjay- "Ahmm... a reality show ?"
Kartik- "Umm... Muze lagta hai ki muze apni cooking skills secret hi rakhni chahiye...." He laughed.
Neelam- "You both look good together, you know. Like this was meant to be." Her mother said genuinely.
Aditi- "It’s just dinner…" she got shy suddenly and glanced away.
Karan- "Just dinner, bhabhi... but with a little bit of mischief, huh ?" He smiled.
Aditi- "I guess I can toast to that !" She blushed and lifted her glass.
Kartik- "And if we do end up in the kitchen, let’s promise to keep the fire extinguisher handy."
Kritika- "What a plan, huh....? Home wale jiju....!" She winked at him and then looked at her sister, who was a blushing mess.
But, the ones who were really happy that time were both- Aditi and Kartik's parents. They spared glances to each other and smiled looking at their kids happily.... Umm, well... Teasing other. They hoped that they won't... And will never... Regret their decision.
_after a while_
Neelam- "Chalo fir... Hum nikalte hai ab...."
