Karan's POV
K

ritika stood by the doorway, her ethereal smile glowing even brighter than the warm glow of the evening sun spilling through the house. Today had been special, chaotic, and filled with laughter, and now she was leaving.

I felt a heavy weight settle in my chest as I watched her say her goodbyes to Kavya, who was still awash with the excitement of her first day as a bride.

Kavya Bhabhi- "Aaj ke din toh ruk jaati."

Kavya bhabhi asked, a hint of wistfulness in her voice. She clutched her new husband's hand, I mean... Aditya bhai's looking more beautiful than ever, making it hard not to imagine the dreams we all held for her.

Kritika- "Nahi.. nahi... Ek raath hi toh rukna tha... Ab jaana toh padega hi naa..!"

Kritika's tone was light, but there was a serious glint in her eye, as if she understood the significance of this moment. I could sense that she wanted to be there for her friend, but she also knew that her role was shifting, the world she was a part of was changing.

Aditya, bhai standing next to Kavya, glanced at Kritika, his eyes filled with warmth and gratitude.

Aditya bhai- "Thank you, Kritika... It meant a lot that you were here last night... "

Maa- "Hame bohot achha laga ki tum yaha ruki thi."

Papa- "Ye tumhara hi Ghar hain Aisa samaz ke aate rehna, beta."

Kritika- "Of course, aise kaise nahi aaungi after all Kavya di bhi yahi hain ab aur baad mein... Aditi di bhi toh yahi aayegi naa..."

She replied, shooting him a playful wink as she shifted her gaze around the room.

My heart raced as she caught my eye even for a second. I quickly turned it into a casual smile, but inside I was a tangled mess. I wanted to say something, anything to hold her back, yet the words wouldn’t come.

Instead, I buried the feeling deep down, a bittersweet knot tightening in my stomach.Kartik bhai, bouncy with energy, came to her side.

Kartik bhai- "Toh fir chale ?"

Me- "Haan, haan... Aditi bhabhi wait kar rahi hogi Naa !" I taunted him. Of course, why does he have to rush every time ?

Kartik bhai- "Chup ho jaa warna maar khayega !"

His enthusiasm was palpable, almost infectious, but all I could think about was how he would get to walk her home, while I was trapped in this moment where she was leaving.

Kritika- "Haan.. chaliye...!"

Kritika beamed, her excitement shining even brighter than before. I could tell she had taken notice of Kartik bhai's readiness, and for a moment, it felt like the two of them were wrapped up in their little world.

He was getting to be the ‘big brother’ for her, while I was just... Karan, the younger sibling lost somewhere in the corners of this festivity.

As they stepped outside, I felt the energy shift. I gathered enough courage to join them at the door, but just as I reached them, Kartik bhai's voice cut through my thoughts.
