His touch was warm, but it sent a shiver down my spine.

I should have pulled away, but I didn't.

I couldn't.

"I told you," he said softly, his voice like a whisper in the night. "I see something in you, Mariana. Something you're not ready to face yet."

"What does that mean?" I whispered, my voice barely steady.

He leaned in even closer, his breath warm against my skin.

"It means I want to help you see it."

Before I could respond, he stood up, pulling me to my feet with him.

His grip on my hand was firm but not painful, and he led me to the edge of the rooftop, where the city stretched out endlessly before us.

"Look," he said, gesturing to the skyline. "This is the world you could have, Mariana. If you let yourself."
