Exam week loomed, the air in the classroom buzzing with a mixture of tension and anticipation. Everyone was in the final stretch of studying, trying to cram in every last bit of information before the tests began.
The mock exam had pushed Jimin to his limits. Jimin let out a weary sigh as he stretched his back, feeling the weight of the test lift off his shoulders now that the paper was taken away.
Jungkook spoke, his voice casual as he remained sitting next Jimin. "How was the exam?"
Jimin's reply was brief and truthful. "Like hell," he said, the words summing up the difficulty and stress of the test just now.
A soft chuckle escaped Jungkook at Jimin's blunt response, clearly amused by his honest assessment of the exam. The alpha knew how intense the tests were, especially given Jimin's competitive streak.
The alpha suddenly stood up from his seat, casually suggesting a seemingly unexpected invitation to the vice president.
"Let's go grab some grilled pork belly, my treat," Jungkook stated, already on his feet.
His words caught Jimin off guard, surprise evident in Jimin's expression. The offer of food was both unexpected and intriguing, given your usual dynamic. However, before Jimin could respond, Jungkook began walking towards the classroom door, gesturing for the omega to follow.
Jimin quickly gathered his things and hastened his steps to keep up with Jungkook as he was about to walk out of the school entrance.
Catching up to him, Jimin asked,
"Yah! What's the sudden invitation for?"Jungkook kept walking, his pace unhurried as he glanced over his shoulder at Jimin.
"It's just a treat. Don't think too much about it." His tone was nonchalant as if offering to treat Jimin to food was something he did all the time.
Despite Jimin rolling his eyes at Jungkook's attitude, the omega found himself trailing behind him as the taller male led the way to a street famed for its local delicacies. As they both made their way through the bustling street, the aroma of various foods wafted through the air, temptingly beckoning.
Jungkook seemed at ease as he navigated through the street, clearly familiar with the area.
After choosing a table in the restaurant, Jungkook took the lead in perusing the menu, eyeing the various options. Once Jimin had picked his preferred orders through the various type of food, the alpha called a waiter over to place the order.
As the waiter took down their choices, Jungkook leaned back in his chair, his gaze drifting back towards the omega. "Do you like it here?"
His question was casual, but it was hard to tell if he truly cared about Jimin's opinion or simply wanted to fill the silence with small talk.
Jimin's response was honest and straightforward. "It's pretty cool here," he admitted.
A small smile tugged at Jungkook's lips upon hearing the answer. He took a moment before responding, the brief pause lending an air of thoughtfulness to his words.
"I'm glad then." His reply was simple but sincere, an almost rare hint of genuineness in his tone.
Once the tension is at ease between them, Jimin excused himself, indicating that he needed to use the restroom. "Wait a sec, I need to go to the restroom," he informed Jungkook before departing, leaving his other belongings at the table.
The alpha simply nodded. "Sure, take your time," he responded, his gaze following Jimin as the omega headed towards the restroom.
Inside the restroom, Jimin found himself standing in front of the mirror, his reflection staring back at him. "Fuck, Park Jimin," The omega whispered, his voice filled with a mix of contemplation and mild self-admonishment.
Then, Jimin left the restroom and head to the counter to ask something to the cashier. And once he's done, he returned to the table where he left Jungkook by himself.
Upon his arrival, Jimin noticed that the alpha was preoccupied with gazing out the window, his thoughts seemingly fixated on the clouds.
When Jimin settled back into his seat, Jungkook turned his attention back to the omega. He seemed to have been lost in thought, but as soon as he saw Jimin, his expression shifted to one of curiosity.
"Happy birthday," Jimin stated, the words hanging in the air as he revealed the reason for his brief absence to the restroom earlier.
Jungkook looked at the slice of chocolate indulgence cake that Jimin pushed toward him on the table, his expression a mixture of surprise and mild disbelief.
A moment of surprise flickered across Jungkook's face as he seemed to process Jimin's unexpected gesture. It was clear the cake was an afterthought on Jimin's part. As his gaze flickered from the cake to the omega, he inquired, "You got me a cake?"
Jimin shrugged nonchalantly, acknowledging the cake's tardiness. "It might be a bit late, but still,"
The alpha chuckled softly at Jimin's nonchalant attitude. His surprise had been replaced by a slight amusement at Jimin's admission. He leaned back in his chair, his eyes still fixed on the cake before him.
"Better late than never, I suppose," he quipped, his tone laced with a hint of gentle teasing.
Jungkook's excitement was evident as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
"Wait, I want to take a picture," the alpha announced, his tone tinged with eagerness.
Jungkook can be seen quickly unlocked his phone and navigated to the camera app, his fingers ready to capture the moment. A couple of pictures are taken, and the male couldn't be more than happy about it.
"How do you know it's my birthday today?" Jungkook found himself asking.
Jimin purposely leave him hanging while looking away from him for a couple of seconds before saying, "your mom and I are friends on Facebook."
Jungkook suddenly burst into laughter. The revelation that Jimin had discovered the information through his mom's Facebook account seemed to amuse him greatly. "I see that." He chuckled.
"Don't you want to make a wish?" Jimin asked.
Jungkook paused briefly, the request to make a wish giving him pause. But then, he nodded, a slight smile playing on his lips. "You're right," the male agreed, his voice holding a touch of humor.
"I suppose I should make a wish."
As Jimin held the lit lighter, ready to light the candle, Jungkook already closed his eyes shut, preparing to make his silent wish.
