"Oh no" Pidge mumbled. This definitely was an oh no moment. The paladins have been running around so much that they are probably exhausted, the castle is depleted and Allura looked close to passing out.
"Please tell me there's not a giant monster in there. Please tell me it's empty! Or full of space candy. One of those two. Either one is fine." Hunk pleaded.
"I don't think it's a pinata, Hunk." Lance groaned.
"If it's the same kind of monster that attacked us on Arus, we already know how to beat it." Keith did something and Voltron formed it's sword and shield ready for an attack.
"Princess, Teagan, drink this it will help you regain energy, we'll need all we can get in order to help the paladins." I took the cup of whatever this was, it smelled awful. I glanced at Allura who downed it easily. It can't be that bad, right? I went for it, trying to drink it faster than I could taste it. I got it down but felt sick, it tasted like motor oil and dish soap. It did make me feel better though.
The coffin opened and this monster was not the same one they had fought before. This thing was as tall as Voltron and looked sort of like an octopus but with four limbs. Its eyes, chest and suction cup looking things all began to glow green. Energy built up at its chest, with a jolt, a large green beam shot at the paladins. The beam forced them back, by a lot.
"Alright, Coran prepare the laser beam, Teagan I'm going to need your help again." Allura looked at me, for a second she looked shocked but brushed it off. I must have looked really bad. I placed my hands back on Allura's shoulders. This time I tried focusing on charging the castle itself through Allura, rather than having her do all the work.
I could hear Hunk freaking out, they sprung into action trying to draw fire away from the Balmera's surface. They flew up but the monster followed. Voltron dodged an attacked and sprinted towards the monster trying to cut it. But the monster was just as agile and dodged, using an eye laser to hit the paladins. Recovering they dodged two more, they turned to take on another chest laser. Lance lost his footing, the shield broke in two, instead the paladins decided to disband.
I could see the thought process, but the monster turned it's tentacle arms upward, all the suction cups sent out blasts of green making the paladins put more effort into dodging than attacking. We used the terrible atmosphere to our advantage, hiding behind yellow clouds.
"Aiming, locked on, fire!" Allura commanded, the Castle sent a blast at the creature. It didn't do much damage but it bought the paladins time. The particle barrier was around the castle but it was only at 10%, depending on how strong this thing was we might not be able to take too much.
It turned and used an eye laser, it hurt. Alarms blared and the castle shook, it seemed to be a repeating factor of getting hit with laser beams.
"Where does Zarkon get these beasts from? And how do they keep finding us?" Allura asked herself, which was sort of dumb.
"Not to be harsh princess, but he probably makes them, he's had 10,000 years to make these monsters and they already knew we were coming since Coran and Hunk had gotten here. They've been ready for us." I watched her nod but she didn't seem to be convinced. For her 10,000 years was a few weeks ago, I didn't blame her it's a lot to process.
"Princess, the particle barrier won't sustain much longer. You two seem to be the only thing keeping it up." Coran looked back at us, he seemed to do a double take at me. Jeez, did I look dead or something, why do they keep looking at me weird.
We sent another blast at the monster as the paladins tried to aim for its eyes. Which they had concluded each beam thing was an eye. That made it angry as it used all it's beams to hit us.
