Chapter 23

~A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body~

Soul's P.O.V

Soul looked around in the darkness sighing. Alice stop going insane. He thoight and floated around the place looking for the door that lead to the red demon. Well the one with Alice.
Soul stopped hearing the piano again. Alice. He instantly thought. It was the same melody that played the last time he came. He floated to the sound and found the door. It looked exactly the same as last time. Except one thing. Black blood covered it completely. Making it blend in aoth darkness.
"So uncool." he muttered and opened the door. If I stay here to long I'll go mad. He closed his eyes and breathed steadily. But it's for Alice. He stepped into the black blood. He coughed a bit from inhaling it a bit. He looked around. The whole room was flooded with black blood a couple of feet from the ground. Black blood oozed from the walls. The room was colorless and dull. The only thing nice in the room was the piano playing.
Soul tried to walk but the black blood held him in place. He struggled to move and finally got his leg unstuck and tried to walk. Which was taking a while since the black blood was also trying to crawl up his leg. Trying to take him over.
"Alice?"he called."Alice? Where are you?"
Something laughed and Alice jerked his head to the noise. The red demon stood there even bigger then normal. He stood looking down to Soul. He was as colorless as the room.
"Alice? Alice?"he mocked and laughed insanely. "Alice isn't here anymore."
"Where is she." Soul snapped. Demanding more then asking.
"She's no where at the moment." the red demon grinned evily.
"Give her back!" Soul yelled his hands turning into fists. The black blood was almost all the way to his waist but he ignored it.
"But I can't she's sealed herself away. Like you did months ago."The red demon grinned down to him.
"At least she's smarter then you."Soul laughs. Months ago before Alice ever came. Soul had the same problem she has now. The red demon. Black blood. All of it. He sealed himself away before the red demon took complete control. He must've taken enough control of Alice to control her body.
"Shut up Soul Evans." The red demon snaps. The black blood was at Soul's stomach now. He didn't have alot more time for talk.
"Whatever. How did she seal herself away?"Soul demanded. The red demon smirked and held out a locket. It was shaped of the Shinigam-Sama's mask. The skull glowed with a black haze.
"Alice..."he muttered and snatched at the locket. But the red demon pulled it away. Tsk. Tsk. The red demon made the sound.
"You'll need to key to unlock it." He said smirking. Dangling the locket by the chain.
He sighed and tried to check his pockets to only find the black blood at his waist now."It's not with me and I can't check either."
"You can. But you'll have to go into the black blood."The demon shrugged." But by the time you come back out you'll be mad. And no one can save Alice then. Or you."
"Wrong."he said simply and laughed. He plugged down into the black blood. Everything darker then the usual dark he normally went in. He started getting a headache and growled a bit. He held his head and remembered what he came to do. He checked his pockets and found a silver small key. He held it carefully and tried to get out of the black blood. But it stung him and he winced massaging his hand.
A figure appeared on the other side of the black blood. It had dirty blond hair that was in pig tails. She smiled down to him and held out a hand through the black blood. He took her hand and climbed out.
"Seems like everythings been switched huh?"Maka smirked at him.
"I still need to get Alice." Soul says still holding onto the key.
"Right. See you back in the real world."she smiled to him and disappeared. Soul sighs and closes his eyes and ends up back in the room. The black blood getting worse by the minute. The red demon smirked to him.
"Have you gotten the key?"He asks. Soul holds it out. He tries to snatch it but Soul pulls it back. Tsk. Tsk. He makes the sound and smirks to him.
"Give me the locket. We all know you can't open it yourself. Only I can. That's the only way for you to take full control over her." Soul smirks.
"Hmm...you still remember I see."he drops the locket into Soul's hand and Soul holds it gently in his hands. I'm coming Alice. Hold on. He thought and opened it. A black haze brightened the whole room a bit and Soul got sucked into the locket along with the demon who turned into black blood.
Soul floated through all her memories. Some were happy. Her smiling at him. Them both walking through the forest. Them making soup. Others were terrible. Like her crying in a corner. Her running from people chasing her yelling things at her. Soul would've watched them all day but the red demon in black blood form was chasing him. He went through her memories faster. Then finally seeing the locket in a bigger form. He went through the locket to see Alice. She was all stone except for her hand.
Soul looked at her and wanted to punch the demon in the face. He floated to her and hugged the stone Alice tightly. The black blood surrounded them both making them both disappear in the blackness.
A bright light breaks through the black blood. Then it destroys all the black blood surrounding them. Alice opens her eyes slowly smiling to him.
"Y-You saved me? Again?"she smiled and hugged him tightly.
"What did you think I'd do leave you here?"Soul says and hugs her back
She nods her head in his chest."I-In the madness. I-I saw you laugh at me. T-Then you left me."she cries into his chest. He hugs her tighter.
"I would never do that. I'll always come back to save you."Soul kisses the top of her head and looks up to see them back in the room but it was filled with color now.
She nods and looks up to him. Smiling. She let go of him and held his hand tightly.
"I lost! Again!"The red demon says angrily even smaller and stands on the piano.
"Of course you did. But your apart of me still."Alice says and picks up the red demon.
"Eat him."Soul shrugs still holding her hand.
"What?" Alice says raising an eyebrow at him.
"That's how to deal with him. That's what I did."Soul grins a bit evily.
"No I will not be eaten ag-"The red demon starts.
Alice plops him in her mouth and swallowed the red demon. She gags a bit."He tastes terrible."
Soul laughs."Yeah. I know."
Alice rolls her eyes and shoves him a bit. "Come on we need to go back home."
"Yeah. One thing though."Soul says.
"Wh-"She starts but gets cut off. Soul kisses her holdingbher waist pulling her closer. Alice gets a bit surprised but then kisses back smiling in the kiss wrapping her arms aeound his neck. They pull back for air and smile. Then both go back to the real world. Alice waking up smiling at Soul who smiled back.
Soul noticed Alice's eyes were now different. Her eyes were a blood red with blue rims. He thought they were beautiful though.
"You guys took forever."Maka says a bit annoyingly.
"Whatever, Pigtails."he says and laughs standing up and helping Alice stand.
"Lord Death wants to see us. "She says and starts walking to the DWMA. Spul rolls his eyes and laughs and follows her holding Alice's hand the whole walk.
