PORCHAY'S POV
How can life be so chaotic? I wondered, stroking Macau's hair while he slept soundly. I carefully cradled his head with my arm, my fingers trailing across his face. There's something I love about admiring people when they're asleep—their peacefulness. I grazed his eyelashes, causing him to flinch slightly.
"Admiring me again, love?" he murmured in his groggy morning voice.
"Aii, Cau... acting like we're already dating, huh?" I teased. He just chuckled.
"I'm just joking, Chay." He stretched, so I moved aside to give him space.
"Can I go out with you?" he asked, just as the doctor entered.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Macau, but you need to be closely monitored. You'll have to stay in bed for a few weeks to recover. Your wounds are no joke." Macau nodded, staring at the floor.
Sean entered the room next.
"Khun Macau, it's not safe for you to leave, especially being the youngest in your family while the elders are away. We need to keep an eye on the surroundings," Sean explained.
"Add more guards around the area. Inform Lorenzo," I instructed Sean, who nodded before leaving.
"You hear that, Cau? You have to stay in this room. No exceptions," I said firmly.
"Stay with me," he replied unexpectedly. That wasn't part of the plan.
"I'm sorry, Cau. I've got a lot to settle, especially now that you're here. But I promise I'll visit and keep you updated, okay? If I hear anything about you trying to escape, I'll send you straight back to Thailand," I warned.
"Wow, you've really grown up, huh? Where's my little cute Porchay gone?" he teased again.
Here we go, the usual belittling. I knew he meant no harm, but it's always the same—no one sees me as anything more. Whatever.
"I'm heading out now, okay? You rest, and I'll come back later." He nodded and hugged me tightly. I tucked him under the blanket and kissed his forehead before leaving. He looked so cute, pouting like he didn't want me to leave but unable to say anything since he couldn't leave either.
As I walked down the hallway, Lorenzo joined me.
"How did that letter get here?" I asked him.
"Mr. Porchay, it was delivered to the other house. I was surprised too by how blunt the sender was—they even used their own stamp."
"How's the investigation I assigned Sean?" I pressed.
"It's ongoing, but we've gathered some initial intel. They're having a meeting later today," Lorenzo informed.
"Prepare my hunting gear. Put it in the underground first. I'll go hunting again later. Tell Sean to meet me there in two hours." Lorenzo nodded and left to prepare everything.
A few minutes later, I went down to clean the sniper rifle I'd used last time, checking that it was fully loaded.
"Khun Porchay, is your sniper ready? I'll take it ahead and set it up, so everything's ready when you arrive," Sean offered.
I caressed the weapon before putting it back in its case and handing it over. "Make sure I've got the best view of my targets."
"Yes, khrup."
FEW HOURS LATER
I arrived at the rooftop beside their headquarters. How could they be so bold, having a meeting in the open like this? From up here, I could see them all clearly.
"Everything's ready, khrup," Sean confirmed.
I positioned myself and peered through the scope for a better look.
"Do you still have their number? Any of them will do." Sean handed me a burner phone, and I called one of them.
"Hello?" the voice on the other end answered.
I didn't respond immediately, scanning the crowd for the one holding the phone.
"Can you hand the phone to your boss? I have some important intel," I said once I found him.
The phone was passed to someone all too familiar.
"Hey, you wanted to talk to me?" he asked, looking confused as he glanced around, trying to spot anyone watching.
"Yes, I'm watching you. You wanted to meet me, right?" I waited for his reaction.
"Capo! I didn't know it was you. Are you finally considering a face-to-face?" he asked.
"Not yet. I want us to get to know each other a little better first," I replied smoothly.
"Is that so?" he grinned.
I fired two shots near the window, shattering the glass. The entire room panicked, unsure where the bullets had come from.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you. Not today. Fun fact: I don't kill with guns," I said, watching as he froze, though his expression remained composed.
I fired more shots around the room, careful not to hit anyone.
"To my dear traitorous family. I know you've been promised something valuable in exchange for betraying The Circle. I get it. You're being led by a faceless coward. But here I am, watching you. Look up to the rooftop, Costalianos," I said before waving from the shadows, masked so only part of my face was visible.
"Small, huh? And I'm all alone. Don't even think about having your men fire at me or come up here, because I'll be gone in the blink of an eye. I just wanted to remind you of who I am. Remember, I could've killed all of you—but I didn't. Not today. But don't think I'll just let things slide. Consider this a reminder."
I ended the call.
I fired a final shot, hitting his guards and grazing his arm. This wasn't a warning—it was just me saying hello.
