The darkness of Midgar's underbelly enveloped them as Victoria, Vincent and Jesse weaved through the winding alleyways. The distant hum of Shinra's machinery above them mixed with the metallic creak of the decaying lower sectors. Victoria could feel the weight of the weapon in her pack-a constant, pulsing presence. She hadn't activated it yet, but its energy whispered to her, urging her forward.

"We should reach the safehouse soon," Jesse said, her voice low but steady. She was leading them through the labyrinthine passages, her familiarity with the city's underworld evident in the confident way she moved. "Avalanche has been laying low since the last raid, but they'll be ready for whatever's coming."

Vincent remained silent, his crimson cloak trailing behind him like the shadow of a ghost. His hand stayed close to his gun, every sense alert. Victoria glanced at him, wondering if he ever felt the same weight of history she did. He had seen more then any man should-more battles, more loss, more pain. And yet, here he was, still fighting.

"How far?" Victoria asked, her voiced a hushed echo in the cold, damp air.

"Not far," Jesse replied, glancing back at her. "But Shinra's patrols have been getting thicker lately. They've got to know something's up."

Victoria's eyes flicked to the distant neon glow of Sector 7's edge. Even beneath the towering plates that choked the sky, the city thrummed with life-if it could be called that. People here survived more than lived. And now, with the weapon in her possession, Victoria felt the weight of their future pressing down on her.

They rounded another corner, the narrow passageways opening into a wider, darker corridor that led deeper underground. As they approached a rusted steel door, Jesse knocked twice, then three times quickly. A moment later, the door creaked open, revealing the familiar faces of Barret and Tifa.

"Glad you made it," Barret rumbled, his mechanical arm gleaming under the low lights of the room. His one good eye narrowed when he spotted Victoria. "And who's this?"

"Victoria Strife," Tifa answered before Victoria could speak, stepping forward with a welcoming smile. "Cloud's sister."

Barret raised an eyebrow. "Cloud's got a sister? Well, ain't that somethin'. You in this fight for real, kid?"

Victoria straightened, meeting Barret's scrutinizing gaze without flinching. "I'm not just Cloud's sister. I'm here to finish what he started." She pulled the weapon from her pack and set it on the table. "And I've brought this."

The room fell silent. The air felt heavier as everyone's eyes locked onto the sleek, ominous device. Tifa's expression darkened, her brow furrowing in concern. Barret leaned in closer, inspecting it with suspicion.

"What in the hell is that?" Barret asked, his voice low but charged with the weight of years of battles fought against Shinra.

"Shinra's latest experiment," Vincent answered, stepping forward. His voice cut through the tension like a blade. "They were afraid of this. If we can learn how to control it, it might be the key to stopping them for good."

Tifa's gaze shifted between Vincent and Victoria. "And how do we know it won't destroy everything in the process? You've seen what Shinra's experiments can do."

Victoria swallowed hard. Tifa wasn't wrong. Shinra had a history of tampering with powers far beyond their control—Mako reactors, SOLDIER, Sephiroth. The consequences of their arrogance always came back to haunt them, leaving the rest of the world to suffer.

"I don't know for sure," Victoria admitted, her voice quieter but no less determined. "But I'm not going to let Shinra use this against us. I'll find a way."
