"I think you should just go for it," My best friend Anna said, as we both lay on our stomachs on my bed, staring at my lighten up phone screen.
She was busy the night before, so came over as soon as she could when I told her about the whole Skyping conversation I had with Ali. Which wasn't extremely hard, considering she lives right next door.
"Fuck it, what's the worst that could happen," I signed, opening up the Mac laptop that I got from mum's boyfriend for my 16th birthday. He was a manager of the UK Apple corporation, so it was 'essential' that I get one for uni next year.
I had spend most of the night last night and into the morning worrying about what Ali would think of me on Skype. I mean, I'm a complete and utter weirdo, and I'm ugly to top that off, so there's really no way he would like me anymore if we were to Skype.
But Anna can be rather persuasive when she wants to be.
I opened up Skype, and saw Anna smirking at me from the corner of my eye. I typed up Ali's account name, and found him, the same profile pic as his Kik. Before I hit call, I sent him a quick message to see whether he was free to Skype or not.
After receiving a quick reply, I pressed call and got in a comfy position with Anna while it was dialling out.
I literally rushed to sort out my hair and make sure I didn't look like a rat, but let's face it, no amount of pruning was going to prevent that.
"The suspense is killer," Anna mumbled, just as the screen changed to his face.
And the sight just knocked the wind out of me.
