Rafael's departure left Xian deep in contemplation. Unbeknownst to him, however, Rafael's interest in the orphanage was merely the tip of the iceberg. Rafael's fascination with Xian had grown exponentially since their initial meeting at the charity gala, and he had become increasingly fixated on winning Xian over.
Back in his office, Rafael sat brooding, unable to shake the memory of Xian's gentle smile and kind demeanor. He pulled out his phone, scrolling through his contacts list until he landed on Shawn's number. With a thoughtful expression, he pressed call.
"Shawn," Rafael said, his voice low and measured, "I need you to dig deeper into Xian's background. Every detail matters." Shawn accepted the task without hesitation, knowing better than to question Rafael's motives. "Consider it done," he replied, hanging up the phone. Within hours, Shawn began gathering intel on Xian, scouring public records and interviewing acquaintances. He discovered that Xian had always been driven by a desire to help others, evident in both his work at the orphanage and his unwavering dedication to the children in his care. Despite his noble endeavors, Xian struggled financially, relying on donations and meager government subsidies to keep the orphanage afloat. This knowledge sparked a plan within Shawn, one that would allow Rafael to gain leverage over Xian without arousing suspicion.
Shawn returned to Rafael's office, armed with the gathered information. "Here are the findings," Shawn said, handing Rafael a folder thick with documents. Rafael opened it, revealing stacks of pages filled with data on Xian's financial struggles, his relationships with local organizations, and even his daily routines. Rafael's eyes scanned the reports, absorbing every detail. "Excellent work, Shawn," he said, closing the folder. "Now, let's use this knowledge to create a compelling argument for why Xian needs us."
Rafael leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers as he pondered the information. "I think we have a golden opportunity here," he mused. "Xian is struggling financially, and we have the means to alleviate those struggles. We can present ourselves as the solution to his problems, offering a lifeline when he needs it most." Shawn nodded thoughtfully. "I agree. If we frame our assistance as purely philanthropic, Xian may not suspect our true intentions." Rafael smiled, intrigued by the prospect. "Precisely. Now let's put our plan into action."
Rafael picked up the phone and dialed the number of his financial advisor. "I need you to draft a proposal outlining the terms of our investment in Xian's orphanage," he instructed. "Make sure it appears entirely altruistic, emphasizing the benefits to the children and the community." The advisor assured Rafael that the proposal would be prepared promptly, and Rafael hung up, turning his attention back to Shawn. "Once the proposal is complete, schedule a follow-up meeting with Xian," he directed. Shawn nodded, jotting down the instructions. "Will do," he said. Rafael stood up, stretching his tall frame. "I want this done swiftly, Shawn. Time is of the essence." As Shawn departed, Rafael couldn't shake the image of Xian's gentle smile. He knew that he had to have Xian, and he was willing to do whatever it took to make that happen.
Rafael's mind lingered on Xian, and he found himself wandering to the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out at the glittering skyline. His thoughts were interrupted by the soft hum of his intercom system, signaling an incoming message. He crossed the room, pressing the button to answer. "Yes?" "Good morning, sir," his assistant replied. "Your schedule for the day is ready." Rafael took the printout, scanning the neatly formatted page. "Is there anything unexpected?" "Only one deviation, sir," his assistant replied. "Hanji Sy has requested a meeting with you later today." Rafael's eyebrows arched slightly. "Schedule it." He handed the printout back. "Thank you." The assistant took the sheet and left, closing the door quietly behind him.
Rafael turned back to the windows, lost in thought once more. The prospect of gaining control of Xian's orphanage and securing Xian's affection weighed heavily on his mind. As the sun climbed higher, casting a golden glow over the bustling city, Rafael felt a thrill of excitement coursing through him. He knew that he would stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
