Xian sat at his desk in the orphanage, surrounded by a mountain of paperwork. The dim light from the lamp illuminated his tired face, shadows lingering under his eyes. He had spent hours poring over the accounts, trying to balance the budget after the recent attack, his mind racing with thoughts of how to keep the orphanage running and ensure the children's safety. Each number on the page felt heavier than the last, a constant reminder of the pressure bearing down on him. Just as he was starting to feel overwhelmed by the weight of it all, a sharp knock echoed through the quiet hall.

Xian sighed, a sense of dread settling in his stomach. He pushed back his chair and walked to the door, knowing who was on the other side. When he opened it, Daniella stood there, her cold, calculating gaze scanning him with a predatory smirk that sent chills down his spine.

“Daniella...” he muttered, exhaustion evident in his voice, but his heart raced with anxiety.

She smiled, her voice dripping with mock sympathy. “I heard about the... unfortunate events,” she said smoothly. “I thought I’d stop by and see how you’re holding up.”

Xuan appeared behind Xian, her expression hardening at the sight of Daniella. “What do you want?” she asked bluntly, her protective instincts kicking in.

Daniella’s smirk deepened. “To help, of course. These children deserve better than the chaos you’ve created.” Without waiting for an invitation, she stepped inside, her gaze sweeping the space with disdain. “It’s clear you’re out of your depth, little brother.”

Xian clenched his fists, the tension in the room palpable, but he forced himself to stay calm. “We’re handling things. The children are safe now.”

Daniella’s laugh was sharp, cutting. “Safe? With everything that’s happened? Renzo in a coma? You call this safe? You’ve done nothing but fail them.”

Xuan took a step forward, positioning herself protectively in front of Xian. “We don’t need your help, Daniella. We’ve managed without you.”

Daniella’s eyes narrowed, her lips curling into a sneer. “Managed? Is that what you call this disaster?” Her tone dropped, becoming more sinister. “I’ve already spoken to a lawyer. I can build a strong case to have the children taken from you. No judge would leave them in the care of someone so reckless.”

Xian’s heart sank. Daniella’s words were a dagger, and he knew she meant every word. She had the connections, the resources, and the cold determination to follow through on her threats.

“You can’t take them,” Xuan said firmly, stepping forward like a shield. “We won’t let you.”

Daniella’s gaze flickered with malice, a predatory glint. “You’re in no position to stop me. These children need stability—something neither of you can provide.”

Before anyone could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway. Xian turned to see Xing, Gael, Alisha, and Morgana approach, their faces etched with defiance.

Xing stepped forward, her chin raised defiantly. “We’re staying with Papa.”

Daniella’s gaze darkened. “You don’t know what’s good for you, child.”

“We know exactly what’s good for us,” Xing replied, her expression steady and unyielding.

Gael crossed his arms, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. “We’ve been through worse than this. You don’t scare us.”

Alisha’s eyes flashed with anger, her voice sharp. “We’ve had enough. We don’t need you making things worse.”

Morgana, though quiet, stood firmly beside her siblings, offering silent support. Her presence radiated strength, a reminder of the hope they all clung to in the face of adversity.

For the first time, Daniella seemed caught off guard. She had expected broken, fearful children—but instead, she faced a family united against her.

Xuan’s voice was cold and firm, cutting through the tension. “You need to leave, Daniella. Now.”

Daniella’s smile faltered for a brief moment, replaced by frustration. But she quickly regained her composure, her expression hardening. “This isn’t over. When I come back, you’ll regret this.”

With that, she turned on her heel and stormed out, slamming the door behind her with a resounding crash.

As the silence settled over the room, Xian exhaled a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. The weight of the confrontation lingered in the air, and he felt his hands tremble slightly. Xuan placed a steadying hand on his shoulder, a silent gesture of support.

“She’ll come back,” Xian whispered, fear and determination blending in his voice.

“Let her,” Xuan replied, her tone unwavering. “We’ll be ready for whatever she throws at us.”

The teenagers gathered closer around Xian, offering their silent reassurance. Xing rested her hand on his arm, her grip firm. “We’re with you, Papa. No matter what.”

Gael grinned, trying to lighten the mood despite the lingering tension. “If she comes back, we’ll just have to scare her off again.”

Alisha smirked, a fire igniting in her eyes. “She won’t know what hit her.”

Morgana stood quietly, her expression serious yet resolute, lending her strength to the group. Despite their fear, their unity was palpable—a silent promise that they would face whatever came next together.

In that moment, Xian felt a flicker of hope amidst the darkness. They weren’t just a group of individuals—they were a family. And no matter what Daniella tried to take from them, they would face it together, armed with the love and trust they had built within these walls.

Xian pulled them all into a tight embrace, his voice soft but full of resolve. “We’ll get through this. Together.”

No matter what storm Daniella brought, they would endure. United, unbroken, and stronger than ever, they would weather the cruelty of the world outside, knowing that within these walls, they had each other—and that was a power Daniella could never take away.
