With the memory of Rafael's proposal still weighing heavily on his mind, Xian found himself being whisked away to Rafael's residence. The offer had been tempting, especially since the orphanage was struggling financially, and the thought of securing a steady source of funding had been too enticing to ignore.

As he stepped into Rafael's car, Xian couldn't help but think about the teenagers back at the orphanage and how this decision might affect them.
As the car wound its way through the city streets, Xian reflected on the recent events. He recalled Rafael's visit to the orphanage, where he had proposed investing in the institution in exchange for updates on the children's progress and involvement in collaborative projects. Xian had been hesitant, sensing there might be more to Rafael's offer than met the eye. However, the possibility of securing vital funding for the orphanage had ultimately swayed him.

Upon arrival, Rafael welcomed Xian into his spacious living room, adorned with elegant furnishings and artwork. Xian took in the opulent decor, his gaze lingering on the abstract painting above the fireplace. "Impressive taste," he commented, forcing a relaxed tone. Rafael smiled, gesturing toward the bar. "Thank you, Xian. I'll mix us drinks. Can I get you a whiskey or perhaps a glass of wine?" Xian accepted a glass of whiskey, taking a moment to appreciate the aroma before raising the glass to his lips. As he sipped the warm liquid, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was stepping into unknown territory.

"So, Rafael, what's on the agenda for this evening besides dinner?" he asked, attempting to hide his nervousness behind a veil of small talk. Rafael replied with a smile, "Just enjoying each other's company, Xian. No business discussions tonight." Xian raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Rafael's evasive response. "Is this a preview of how our working relationship will unfold?" he asked, setting the glass down. Rafael laughed, refilling Xian's glass. "Tonight is just about getting to know each other, Xian. Let's save the details for later."

Despite Rafael's assurances, Xian couldn't dismiss the nagging feeling that there was more to this evening than met the eye. He took another sip of whiskey, letting the amber liquid warm his insides. "If you don't mind me asking, where will I be sleeping tonight?" he inquired, feigning nonchalance. Rafael's eyes seemed to gleam momentarily in the firelight, but his smile remained smooth. "You'll be staying here in the house, naturally. And tonight, you'll be sharing my bed." Xian felt a sudden surge of alarm, his heart racing faster than he dared acknowledge. He forced himself to maintain a neutral expression, hiding his growing unease behind a mask of polite indifference.

Xian's mind whirred into action, scrambling to come up with a diplomatic way to extricate himself from the unexpected invitation. "I appreciate your hospitality, Rafael," he said, "but I'm not sure I'm comfortable sharing your bed tonight." Rafael's eyebrows arched slightly, his eyes narrowing ever so subtly. "I'm afraid the matter isn't open to discussion, Xian," he replied, his voice silky smooth. "We have an understanding, and I intend to see it honored." Xian swallowed hard, his stomach twisting with anxiety. The realization dawned on him that he had underestimated Rafael's expectations and, more disturbingly, the lengths to which Rafael would go to enforce them.

Xian's instincts screamed at him to flee, but he reminded himself of the orphanage's precarious financial situation and the teenagers who relied on him. He attempted to reason with Rafael, choosing his words carefully. "Given the nature of our agreement, I had assumed our relationship would be strictly professional." Rafael leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "In my world, everything is intertwined. Business and pleasure are two sides of the same coin." Xian's pulse quickened, and he struggled to maintain his composure. "I see," he said slowly, his mind racing to formulate a new strategy. "It seems I may have misunderstood the scope of our partnership."

Rafel's gaze lingered on Xian, seeming to assess his reaction. Satisfied with whatever he saw, he straightened up and gestured toward the stairs. "Dinner will be served shortly, Xian. In the meantime, why don't you head up and freshen up? I'll meet you downstairs. Xian hesitated, feeling trapped and uncertain, but ultimately he followed Rafael's instructions. As he ascended the staircase, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and flinched at his own reflection. The person looking back was tense and worried, a far cry from the calm and confident individual he normally presented to the world.
