Xian's heart was still pounding from the conversation with Rafael as he drove his family away from the mansion. Rafael had assured him they would be safe, but doubt gnawed at him. The kids sat quietly in the back, the tension between them palpable. Xian, though determined to bring them back to the orphanage for some normalcy, couldn't shake the feeling of dread creeping over him.
"Pa, are you sure we should go back?" Xing's voice was steady, but Xian could sense her unease.
He glanced in the rearview mirror at his children's anxious faces. "We can't live in fear forever," Xian said, trying to convince himself as much as them. "I'll protect you. I promise."
Suddenly, the headlights of a black SUV blinded him, cutting them off and forcing Xian to slam on the brakes. Tires screeched, and the car swerved violently. Thugs poured out of the SUV, surrounding their vehicle with a menacing look in their eyes.
"What's happening?" Morgana asked, her voice trembling.
Before Xian could respond, the doors of the SUVs swung open, and several armed men poured out, surrounding their vehicle. One of the men, dressed in a dark suit, stepped forward. His expression was cold, calculated.
"Who are they?" Renzo growled, his fists clenched.
The man who led the group approached slowly, his face illuminated by the vehicle's headlights. "My name is Hanji," he said, his voice sharp and chilling. "Amber's husband. Sean Laurence's older brother."
A wave of realization hit Xian, his stomach twisting at the mention of Sean and Amber. The two people responsible for so much of the suffering his family had endured were gone, but their ghosts lingered through Hanji.
Renzo narrowed his eyes. "So this is revenge for your brother and wife?"
Hanji's face twisted with rage. "They were killed because of you!" he spat. "Now you're going to pay for it."
Xian met his gaze, defiant despite the fear gnawing at him. "Your brother and wife brought their own demise. They tried to destroy my family. It was their choice."
Hanji's face darkened further. Without another word, he signaled to his men, and chaos erupted.
The men lunged at the car, shattering the windows, pulling the teenagers out one by one. Alisha and Gael fought back with all their strength, but the attackers were overpowering them. Renzo and Xing tried to hold off their captors, while Morgana was dragged from the car.
Suddenly, the roar of a motorcycle pierced through the chaos. A figure emerged from the darkness, speeding toward them with dangerous precision. The bike skidded to a halt, and the rider dismounted with fluid grace. In a flash, he grabbed Morgana, pulling her free from Hanji's men.
Morgana blinked in shock. "Shawn?" she whispered, recognizing him.
"Hang on tight!" Shawn ordered, pulling her onto the bike. He revved the engine and tore through the night, disappearing into the distance.
After a short ride, Shawn stopped at a hidden car he'd parked far away from the scene. He quickly tucked Morgana inside, locking the doors. "Stay put. Don't move, no matter what you hear," he instructed firmly, before disappearing back into the night.
Shawn raced back to the fight, scanning the chaos for Renzo. He found him locked in a brutal struggle with two of Hanji's men, barely holding his own. Without hesitation, Shawn jumped into the fray, dispatching the attackers with swift precision. He yanked Renzo away from the fight and pointed him toward a concealed motorcycle hidden in the brush near the car.
"Take this," Shawn tossed him the key to the bike. "Head back to where Morgana is. Get Xing and take her with you."
Renzo didn't hesitate. As he was about to leave, Shawn pressed a gun into his hand. "Just in case," he added grimly.
Renzo nodded, revving the engine before speeding off into the night.
Back at the scene, the fighting intensified. Hanji's men were relentless, swarming the car, grabbing at Gael and Alisha, trying to pin them down. Xian struggled to keep them at bay, but it was an overwhelming force.
Renzo returned just in time, swerving the bike into the chaos. He found Xing, pulling her up onto the motorcycle behind him. "Hold on," he muttered, his voice steady despite the turmoil. Together, they tore through the melee, heading back to Shawn's hidden car where Morgana was waiting.
Shawn, meanwhile, was back in the thick of the battle. He reached Gael and Alisha, who were fighting desperately. Shawn took down the men pinning them down and grabbed Gael's arm.
"You ride this one," he ordered, tossing Gael the key to his own bike. Gael, wide-eyed but determined, nodded and hopped on. Alisha quickly mounted behind him, clinging to her brother as the engine roared to life.
"Follow Renzo, and don't look back!" Shawn shouted over the noise of the fight. As Gael revved the engine and sped off, Shawn yelled after them, "And be careful with my babies!"
With the teenagers safely on their way, Shawn sprinted back toward the heart of the battle. His focus was now on one person: Rafael who has arrived after he plea with Alisha earlier.
When Shawn reached the scene, the intensity of the fight between Rafael and Hanji was palpable. Both men were bloodied, their bodies battered, but neither was giving up. Hanji swung a knife with deadly precision, slashing across Rafael's side. Blood poured from Rafael's wound, but he retaliated with a vicious punch, knocking Hanji back.
Hanji snarled in rage, pulling out a gun, but Rafael was quicker. He lunged at Hanji, disarming him before the gun could fire. The two men grappled fiercely, their bodies colliding as they fought for dominance. Blood stained the ground beneath them, and their heavy breathing echoed in the night.
Hanji, in a fit of desperation, managed to grab Rafael's throat, squeezing hard. Rafael's face turned red as he struggled for air, but with sheer determination, he wrenched himself free, delivering a brutal blow to Hanji's jaw.
The fight raged on, both men barely able to stand but refusing to give in. Blood dripped from their wounds as they continued to strike each other, neither willing to back down.
In a final, desperate move, Hanji lunged at Rafael, pulling a knife from his belt. He aimed it at Rafael's chest, intent on delivering a fatal blow. But Rafael was quicker, twisting out of the way just in time. He grabbed the knife from Hanji's hand and, in one swift motion, plunged it into Hanji's chest.
Hanji gasped, his eyes wide with shock. His body went limp, collapsing to the ground in a pool of blood.
Rafael stood over him, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling as he tried to steady himself. His body was covered in blood, both his and Hanji's, but he had won.
The battle was over.
Rafael staggered, his body weakened from the fight. Xian rushed forward, catching him just before he collapsed. "It's over."
