Three weeks passed, and the friendship of Johnny and Chloe had blossomed. They've become closer friends and hung out whenever Johnny had a free day from work.

Though, to Johnny's disappointment, Chloe still had Rachel to hang out with at the junkyard.

How did he know that? He follows Chloe, now that they've become closer. To him, it was for input reasons on Rachel Amber. Knowing her reputation, whenever Chloe left Johnny, he would stay just in case Rachel did something behind Chloe's back.

So far, nothing.

Johnny sighed, but this was a good thing, Chloe had a friend there for her when he wasn't. Johnny wasn't going to he the type of person to be controlling over Chloe and who she hangs out with. They weren't officially together.

Not yet anyway.

On a weekend, Johnny was in Chloe's bedroom looking over her belongings. She was somewhere in the house, Johnny didn't know where. She just said she would be back in a few minutes. That's Chloe Price coded for 'I'm going to smoke outside to get high' so David wasn't on her ass about it.

Speaking of David, Johnny had found numerous things he could use against the veteran for any specific occasions if needed. Chloe really wasn't lying when she said he wasn't sometimes unintentionally abusive. He witnessed David slapping Chloe after getting caught with weed for the final time. That's when she decided to smoke away from the house for now on.

It pissed Johnny off so bad that Chloe had trouble keeping him from going after David. No matter how much Chloe thought David deserves it, she couldn't let Johnny do it.

Chloe was scared when she saw Johnny got so pissed off and got surprised at how protective he was over her.

While looking around in Chloe's cluttered room, he saw a few photos in a small box. It was a younger Chloe with another girl and a man behind them. Johnny assumed it was a family member of either hers or the other girl in the photo. He also saw a photo of both girls in pirate gear, which Johnny let out a chuckle as he also saw a pirate hat hanging on Chloe's full body mirror in the corner of the room by her bed.

"You really love pirates, huh, Chloe?" He mumbled to himself with a smile.

He put the two photos back in the small metal box and continued on to his search around the room. Johnny had seen this other girl around Chloe's room a lot. She had mentioned a Max Caulfield. Maybe that girl was Max.

He'll have to ask one day.

Just a few moments go by, and Chloe slams the door shut, startling Johnny, "Hey, what did the door do to you?" He joked but didn't smile.

"Fucking David caught me again, and it wasn't for smoking! noo! It's because he knows I'm high and just wanted to pick up a stupid fight for me to get in trouble with my mother!" Chloe exclaimed, waving her hands around.

"I mean, I don't get high enough to get bloodshot eyes or anything!" She turned to Johnny, "Do I look high enough for that? Do I?"

Johnny shook his head, "Chloe, you look perfectly fine to me - and let me finish." He said in a stern tone, keeping Chloe quiet as she crossed her arms.

"You only smoke one joint that's weak as hell just to calm yourself for the day, I will NEVER understand why David would want to pick up fights with you!" He loudly said.

Chloe shrugged, "Beats fucking me! I swear I just want to get out of this shit pit of a family."

Johnny internally smiled, thinking up a quick plan just in case things went south in the future. Though he looked at Chloe with concern which Chloe shook her head to.
