I seriously hope she was right about this. Jingling my keys in my hand as I tiredly haul my stuff down to the first floor entrance. Before I head out the sliding doors, I pull my phone out to check the time. Sure enough, 3:03. My usual time I left.

Glancing out the glass doors, I see a silver car pull into the front drive. I groan to myself as I shake my head. She had no reason to lie, and she showed up... I guess I had to trust her on this one. Walking through the doors that opened when I got close enough, I beeline to the passenger door. Bitter winter air bites though my coat and scrubs as I shift myself into the car.

"Glad you made it." I shut the door, then look over at Ally with a tired look. "Long shift, I can tell. I'll just drive." With that, she just starts to drive the car while I sink into the warm heated leather seat. Yet I still felt on edge.

As we pass by the parking lot, I glance to where my car was parked and notice movement on either side of it. My stomach drops as I realize she might have been right. But- ugh. I just keep my eyes on the outside, not wanting to look at the woman driving. We were driving for a good ten minutes before I spoke up.

"This isn't some forced family reunion, right? I'm not too keen on seeing our parents." She snorts and I glance over in time to see her roll her eyes. "Hell no. You know I'm not keen on paying them visits anytime soon either. Not after last Thanksgiving where they tried to hook us both up with dates. Geez."

I sigh and roll my eyes, having luckily ignored most of the details of that event. The rumble of the car fills the silence between us as we pull up to a red light. Her keys jingle in the ignition from the motion, adding to our silence. After a while and the light turns green, I finally decide to ask.

"So... They are actually after me?"

"Yeah. I wish it wasn't true, but surely you saw the two camping your car, right?"

The sick feeling settles in my stomach and I let out a groan.

"Yeah. I did."

After she shifts a hand off of the wheel to tuck some of her hair out of her view, she speaks again.

"Look, I know you aren't enthused by all of this, Light, but trust me. I'm not either. I'm just not wanting anyone to off my brother. Ok? Regardless of how tense our relationship is, I still give a rip about you."

I can't help but feel skeptical about her words. However... I knew she wasn't lying about this. Wait-

"... Didn't one of us have a restraining order."

"... You did for me. But this was needed."

A snort escapes me, prompting a tired and sarcastic smile.

"I hate you-"

"Hate you too, Light."
