I stared at my phone, reading through the latest message from Rosaline.

Sorry for texting too much. 

It was the fifth time today she'd said something like that. Always apologizing, always explaining herself. I let out a quiet sigh, shaking my head slightly as I typed back the same response I always gave her.

 It's okay.

I didn't have the energy to keep up with her constant stream of messages. It wasn't that they annoyed me—she was just... different. Bubbly, overly eager, and so out of place in my world. She didn't seem to realize how things worked yet. Maybe she'd learn eventually. Or maybe she wouldn't.

Dropping my phone back onto the desk, I leaned back in my chair and glanced at the time. I had meetings later, more business to handle, but for now, I checked my banking app. I almost laughed when I saw the list of purchases she'd made. Clothes, bags, more clothes. I wasn't surprised, but she hadn't wasted any time. She was already comfortable enough to spend, apparently without second-guessing it.

The card had no limit, so it didn't matter to me how much she spent. If this was her way of adjusting to the arrangement, then fine. She could spend as much as she wanted. Money was the least of my concerns.

I set my phone aside and focused on something more important—business. I picked up my personal phone and called the landlord handling my properties. I needed to find a mansion for after the wedding, someplace suitable, and the options I'd been given hadn't impressed me much.

"I need something bigger," I said, my voice steady and cold. "We'll be touring the properties the day after tomorrow. Find me the best options."

The landlord agreed, as he should, and I ended the call. I had things to take care of, but my mind drifted back to Rosaline's messages. Too many unread. I could scroll for hours and still have more waiting for me. She seemed to have no boundaries when it came to texting, but I didn't care to read most of it.
