After we flew back to Italy, Luciano and I spent a day visiting family, settling back into familiar surroundings. The next morning, Luciano went off to work as usual, leaving me alone in the penthouse. I'd been on the phone with my grandma, but once we said our goodbyes, the boredom started creeping in.
Just then, a notification from Vincent—the guy I bumped into at the cinema—popped up. He'd messaged me, saying, Hey! Thought I'd make up for nearly making you drop your popcorn. How about a coffee at that little café near Piazza Venezia?*
His casual invitation was kind of unexpected, but I shrugged. It was just a coffee, after all, and some company couldn't hurt.
I decided to dress up a bit, slipping into a white dress with a soft floral pattern that felt both elegant and relaxed. The loose fabric flowed lightly, and I added a white bow in my hair, keeping it down for a simple look. Grabbing my phone, I called the driver, who already had the car ready to go.
Once I arrived, I stepped inside the café, spotting Vincent by a window. He noticed me immediately, his expression brightening as he stood to greet me.
"Hey!" he greeted, smiling as I took the seat across from him. "Good to see you... I, uh, didn't get your name last time."
"Oh, right—Rosaline," I said, smiling. "Nice to officially meet you."
"Rosaline," he repeated thoughtfully. "Good to meet you, too. I ordered us both coffees, but—" He paused, realizing he didn't know my preference. "I guess I should have asked what you like?"
I laughed softly, leaning back. "Caramel, usually. But I'm open to surprises."
He smiled, relief evident on his face. "Caramel it is. Noted for next time."
