fem!reader x sano shinichiro
as soon as you'd entered the sano home, a familiar head of blonde hair swooped past you, shouting, "look out!"
you took a reflexive step backward to avoid a collision, followed by another step back when his best friends, keisuke and haruchiyo sprinted closely behind him.
"hey! what did i say about running inside the house?!" you heard shinichiro scold as he emerged from the kitchen and into the living room. but the two boys were already out of sight, only causing you to chuckle. shinichiro trudged towards you, heaving as if he'd been chasing them for hours. emma, his littlest sibling, followed from behind him, tugging on the hem of his shirt.
"onii-san, i'm hungry!" she whined, sounding rather irritated.
as shinichiro's girlfriend, you were quite used to this rampant behaviour, as you spent the majority of your time with him. in turn, you weren't surprised to get a phone call from him this afternoon, desperately asking you to look after his siblings for the day after getting called into work at the last minute.
"y/n, thank god you're here," he huffed, dropping down to his knees at her feet as soon as he took note of her presence, "i'm late for work, please save me."
"y/n!" emma chanted contently, leaving shinichiro's side to give you a hug.
"hey, emma-chan! why don't you go wait in the kitchen for me, we can make some dorayaki, okay?" you spoke kindly, squatting down so you could be at eye level with her.
"okay!" she obliged, running off to the kitchen momentarily. you then turned your attention to a still out-of-breath shinichiro, who struggled to pick himself up off the floor.
"i see you've been busy this afternoon?" you grinned in amusement, pulling him towards you by his waist.
"don't even get me started," he spoke, exhaustion laced throughout his words. even so, he still managed a smile before pecking you on the lips and wrapping his arms around your waist.
"when will you be back?" you asked, adjusting a few strands of his hair, as it was severely out of place.
"just a couple hours, i promise," he answered sincerely, "thanks again for doing this, i'm so sorry it was last minute."
"hey, it's not your fault. besides, i like hanging out with the kids," you insisted, offering another grin.
"god, i love you so much," he pulled you in for another kiss, this time lasting a little longer than the the first one.
"i love you too," you uttered against his lips, placing one last kiss on his forehead before he slipped on his shoes and headed off to work.
"alright, emma-chan, get ready to eat the best dorayaki you've ever had in your life," you announced, projecting your voice on purpose as you made your way towards the kitchen.
"dorayaki?!" mikey's voice emerged from behind you instantly, as expected, keisuke and haruchiyo on either side of him.
"can we have some too?" keisuke asked with a glimmer of hope in his round eyes.
"only if you can find me all the ingredients," you tested, a plan unravelling in your head. you figured as long as you kept them happily occupied, they would refrain from wreaking havoc in the house. god knows what they've already done.
after you'd sent the three of them to retrieve specific ingredients, you put mikey in charge of mixing, keisuke in charge of rolling dough, and haruchiyo to help you prepare the proper kitchen utensils. emma seemed to be enjoying just watching the boys put to work, which also put a grand smile on your face.
you'd always admired how driven and smart your boyfriend's siblings were, even if they weren't well-behaved at all times. you could see in each of their hearts that they were going to grow up to be amazing people. it reminded you that not only had you found the love of your life, you'd also found family.
after about twenty minutes, you'd placed a handmade tray of dorayaki in the oven.
"and now we just gotta wait," you finalized, closing the oven door and pulling off the oven mitts you were wearing, "while we wait, why don't we play a game?"
it wasn't hard for you to convince the four of them to initiate a game of tag outside whilst the dorayaki was baked. unfortunately, they'd eventually roped you into it and you just couldn't find it in your heart to say no. so your ultimate plan to tire them out had also tired you out. you were only able to duck out when the timer for the dorayaki went off and you had to go inside to take it out.
they continued playing amongst themselves for a little longer before coming inside, hungrier than a pack of wolves.
the four of them wound up eating their dorayaki and falling asleep on the couch whilst watching tv. by now, it was dark out and you were whipping up a small dinner for shinichiro in the kitchen, attempting to do it quietly since the last thing you wanted to do was wake the kids up. after about half an hour, you heard the door open and close, notifying you that shinichiro was home.
"hey, i made you some dinner," you whispered, peeking your head out of the kitchen. but shinichiro seemed more focused on the couch of sleeping children.
"y-you made-- wait, how did you--? they're all asleep," he stuttered out the obvious, sounding rather baffled at the sight, "and it's only nine...?"
"yeah...?" you were slightly confused as to why he was so astonished, but then remembered that he was having quite the day prior to your arrival.
"what did i ever do to deserve you?" he sighed contently, walking towards you and pulling you in for a hug. you hooked your arms around his neck, taking in his scent joyously.
"i guess i am sort of amazing," you shrugged jokingly, smirking at him. he pressed his lips against yours passionately, your back hitting the wall behind you.
"you really are," he declared softly, looking into your eyes with doting admiration.
the two of you ended the night eating dinner together, before carrying each kid up to bed, then heading to shinichiro's bed and falling asleep in his arms.
