fem!reader x sanzu haruchiyo
tw: drug use
you walked down the street, barely able to see the lines in the sidewalk with your arms crossed. you actively searched for a head of long, white hair, in hopes to find him before trouble would find you. this part of shibuya city wasn't exactly the safest after dark; especially for a girl. but you knew you'd be okay as soon as you had haruchiyo by your side.
you were supposed to meet him to go to a club, but you grew nervous as you approached the sound of loud, obnoxious music as he was still nowhere to be found.
you decided to take out your phone and call him before taking another step, just to be safe. luckily, he picked up immediately.
"haru? where are you? i'm near the club," you spoke, trying not to worry your best friend too much with your tone.
"oh, i'm inside already, come in," he answered, as you could hear the music overlapping across the line. you hung up, relief washing over you before you marched towards your destination and found sanzu standing at the door. he guided you inside and brought you to a secluded room that contained a couple of couches surrounding a transparent glass table. as soon as he closed the door, he took off his black mask.
"you came a bit late, so i started without you," sanzu remarked, plopping down onto the couch, hunching over to snort another line off the table.
"don't even, you would've started without me if i was early," you rolled your eyes, raising a brow at him.
after you were kicked out of toman, sanzu refused to stay affiliated, since you were the only reason he was apart of toman. fortunately, izana took you both in and you were now apart of tenjiku. although you had your doubts about izana, sanzu seemed to be perfectly fine with taking advantage of the benefits that came with joining tenjiku-- for example, having access to private rooms at such lavish clubs.
it was a funny thing really-- you and sanzu had almost nothing in common. the one thing you could agree on was the sweet sense of relief and euphoria that a powdered substance was able to bring you.
yet, you spent the majority of your time with him.
after ingesting a couple of drinks and snorting a few more lines, your vision became hyper focused and unreliable. your head began spinning in an ecstatic effort.
you and sanzu ended up lying on the floor side by side, letting the consumed substances take effect. when you were under the influence, you had a habit of drowning deep in your own thoughts before questions you'd never had before would rise to the surface. you and sanzu talked for hours about everything and nothing, each topic disappearing with the mention of the next.
and when a portion of silence finally coated the room, a deeper, more personal question had reached your radar. you were hesitant at first, but quickly remembered it was only sanzu.
"tell me... am i the only one who gets to see you without that mask on?" you asked, your voice low. you were still lying on the ground, staring up at the ceiling. the drugs had seeped into your veins and you felt like you were melting into the floor.
"not that it matters, but... yeah, pretty much," he answered coyly, keeping his eyes glued upward.
"you're very beautiful," you admitted, your tone ridden with casualty. your words would've surprised you as much as they surprised him if you weren't so crossed. but the substances taking over your body were in control now.
"you think i'm... beautiful?" he repeated, turning his head to look at you momentarily.
"mhm," you tutted in a nonchalant manor.
to you, you're comment was a mere statement of what you truly believed. but to sanzu, it was everything. you saying that meant the world to him, and although it may not have seemed like it, his heart was jumping out of his chest. you'd never said anything like that to him before, and he almost didn't believe what he was hearing.
but when you turned your head to meet his eyes, he could see in your expression that you meant it.
"nobody's ever... called me that to me before," he expressed, almost in a whisper, as if you'd quite literally taken his breath away.
"well, you are," she confirmed with a pure smile on her face. knowing exactly how he felt, he hesitated to act on it because he didn't want to ruin the moment. but as he looked over at you with glistening grey-ish blue orbs, he realized that all he could think about was how badly he wanted to kiss you.
his eyes glazed over your expression, falling upon your softly parted lips.
without being able to stop himself, he lifted his head off the floor beneath them and hovered over you with his eyes still stuck on your glossy pink lips.
"haru...?" you felt your heartbeat quicken as his face was now within inches of yours. his long hair cascaded over one shoulder on the left side of his face, one of his hands pressed against the floorspace beside your ear. you mirrored his expression, flicking your gaze from his eyes to his lips.
you realized that he seemed a little nervous, his features showing you that he was looking for permission to kiss you.
so you took the front of his shirt into your fists and pulled him down to press your lips together, the new sensation sending chills up your spine.
haruchiyo's lips were dry and soft, his one hand caressing your cheek gently. you'd be lying to yourself if you'd said you never thought about doing this before. you just figured he had no interest in complicating your friendship. furthermore, you wondered if he was only doing this because he was under the influence.
but right here, right now, with him kissing you and holding you like you were the only girl in the world, you knew you were wrong.
