It was morning, and the rays of the sun entered Ozai's room. He stirred in his bed, slowly waking up to the sound of birds chirping outside. He stretched, getting up to begin his day.

Dressed in dark red robes, Ozai made his way to the kitchen, setting a pot of rice on the stove to cook. He smiled to himself, thinking about his daily routine: wake up, train, meditate, and eat. He took pride in the discipline he had built over the years, something he had learned from his parents, especially his mother.

The amount of rice was the usual for him, but he added a little more for his guest. While waiting for the rice to be ready, Ozai stepped outside into the training area, a place designed by Toph to train herself and her daughters. He began his morning workout with fluid, graceful movements, channeling his energy into a series of exercises that tested both his strength and flexibility. He remembered not only the movements but also the sensations that helped him move his energy, something that he learned from Ty Lee.

Afterward, he sat cross-legged on the grass, closed his eyes, and let his mind settle into a deep meditation. The images of the world around him faded into the background as he focused on his energy, and then the world became larger. He felt his energy and his guests' energy, and he felt Bolin still sleeping in his room. Then he felt two energies as one, a strange thing. Korra felt he had two energies.

Inside the house, Korra was just waking up. Stretching her arms, she wandered through the halls until she found the backyard, where Ozai was still meditating.

When Ozai finally started to stand up, Korra greeted him from inside the house, standing at the arch of the door, "Morning."

"Morning," Ozai replied while walking inside the house.

"Thank you for letting me stay," said Korra when Ozai was closer.

Ozai stopped and awkwardly answered, "Oh, you don't have anything to thank."

Korra chuckled and smiled, "Hey, do you mind if I borrow your mind a little bit?"

"Ah, sure," said Ozai, unsure.

Korra giggled and then scratched the back of her head, "Well, I was thinking of asking you about your method of meditating."

Ozai frowned, unsure, and was about to ask something, but Korra kept walking. "I've some troubles with my air-bending."

Korra then leaned on the wall with her arms crossed, "it's frustrating. I'm fine with water, earth, and fire. But for some reason, I can't bend air at all."

Ozai scratched his chin while thinking, "I don't know much about air bending."

The Avatar smiled, "Yeah, I know. I just thought that your meditation could help me. For some reason, it's impossible to meditate when Tenzin asks me to, so maybe I am doing it wrong."

Ozai tilted his head, "wait, you did not meditate for your fire training?"

Korra raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Wait, firebenders meditate?"

Ozai nodded, "My mother is a firebender, and she always emphasized how important meditation is. Especially to my little brother, who is a firebender like her."

Korra frowned and thought for a moment, "My firebending teacher always said bending fire was about channeling emotions. I've never heard of meditation being part of the process."

Ozai nodded, "Yes, well, my mother thought that emotions are the key to her bending, and that is why meditation is important. In her own words, 'One needs to be in control of oneself before controlling fire or any bending.'"

Korra nodded thoughtfully. "That's... really deep. I never thought of it that way."

The two of them made their way back into the house. The smell of freshly cooked rice filled the kitchen. Just as they were getting settled, the phone rang. Korra laughed. "Smells like the rice is done. I'll check on it before it burns."
