Innocence of a child

10 years have passed, and even when the "twins" are very different, they are very close. Azula excels in almost any aspect: grace, intelligence, fire bending, and she also was a little cunning as she does whatever to have what she wants. In exchange, her twin brother Goku was not that clever, he was way too innocent and fell for the pranks of his sister over and over again, but he never gets mad at her, and the worst is that he could not fire bend; but when he lacks in all those aspects, he excels in combat. He has fought with elite soldiers, benders, and non-benders and he has always won, his sister was the only one that could beat him as she knows him very well but she has to get better every time as Goku seems to catch up with her at any moment. For that reason, the people in the Fire Nation thought that it was a shame that they were born as twins because if they were just one, that individual will be perfect.

At home, Azula and Goku always get the prices of their father. Azula really works hard to gain those praises, but to Goku, that was not that important, and for that reason his older brother, Zuko was jealous of both of them, especially of Goku, who seems that he cannot take anything seriously.

Their mother Ursa is always at Zuko's side as he was the introverted type, and Goku and Azula seem to attract the attention of everyone. Ursa often disciplines Azula for her behavior, although she was kind of abusive through everyone, either Zuko or Goku, is the first who take the pranks of Azula too personally, and her mother usually has to intervene, but if it is about Goku, she did not do it too often. On one occasion Azula eavesdropped a conversation where Ursa was talking with Zuko and Goku: "Listen, if you do not stand your ground, your sister will continue to pick on you, you know that she is", at that moment Azula was furious for that, her mother was conspiring against her? then she heard: "I do not mind Azula doing those things". It was her twin brother; he was with his typical nonchalant altitude.

On a typical day in the mansion garden, Ursa was close to a pond, and she was feeding some turtle-ducks, Zuko was next to his mother, and Goku was just lying in the grass. Zuko talked to his mother about how Azula fed the turtle-ducks, then he threw a big stone at them, the turtle-ducks survived and the animal mother attacked Zuko, which made Goku laugh at him, it was quite comical the way Zuko tried to remove the turtle-duck. Azula was passing by and stopped when she heard Goku laughing at Zuko. Ursa tell Zuko that mothers will always protect their kids, then she started to talk with Goku:

- The suffering of your brother was funny to you, or was the one from the little animals?

- The way Zuko tried to take away the turtle-duck was very funny, hahaha

- Young boy. You know that suffering is not an acceptable laughing matter. Even the animals feel pain.

- But what ...

- You are too fascinated with fights, and that is a big concern. Are you uncivilized and will go to kill animals and people?

- Well. The only reason to kill animals is to eat them.

Goku answered in a very innocent but direct way. For him, killing a person was bad, it has to be done as a last resource because it will demonstrate that you cannot control yourself. But killing an animal was only for you to eat and nothing more.

- And if the killing was so bad, why are we in a war?

Ursa could not answer Goku. She did not know if he was genuinely innocent enough to give that kind of answer or if he was just like his sister. Azula then got out of her hiding and called Goku as she wanted to play with him. She was somehow happy at that moment.
