Minutes later Brightpaw wakes up to Berrypaw sitting beside them.

"W-Where am I?" Brightpaw meowed.

"In Rainfur's den. You passed out when you got back to camp," Berrypaw meowed, with tears in his eyes.

"W-Where's my mother?" Brightpaw asked.

"What do you mean? You came back without them saying you were ambushed," Berrypaw meowed with a sad expression on their face.

Brightpaw began to tear up as the memories of what happened started to flood in.

"N-No... this can't be happening, it just can't!" Brightpaw yowled, as she jumped to her feet and ran out of the den and into the opening.

"Brightpaw wait, your wounds aren't healed!" Berrypaw shouted.

Berrymoon hears the commotion and runs out of the warrior's den.

"Berrymoon! She is going towards the gorge!"

Berrymoon's eyes were wide open with shock. Berrymoon ran out of the camp and towards the gorge, hoping it was not too late.

Brightpaw ran towards the edge of the gorge, her eyes wild with grief and rage. She had just seen her mother get killed by a RiverClan ambush, and she felt like she had nothing left to live for. She wanted to end her misery and join them in StarClan.

But before she could leap into the gorge, a strong paw grabbed her by the scruff and pulled her back. She struggled and hissed, trying to break free, but the grip was too tight. She looked up and saw Berrymoon, her mentor, staring at her with a mix of concern and anger.

"Brightpaw, what are you doing?" Berrymoon demanded. "Do you have any idea how foolish you are?"

"Let me go!" Brightpaw cried. "I want to die! I want to be with my mother!"

Berrymoon shook her head. "No, you don't. You want to live, Brightpaw. You want to honor your mother's memory by becoming a strong and brave warrior. You want to make her proud of you."

Brightpaw sobbed. "How can I do that? She is gone, Berrymoon. She is gone forever, and it's all my fault. I'm worthless. I deserve to die."

Berrymoon sighed. "I know how you feel, Brightpaw. I lost someone I loved to RiverClan too. But killing yourself won't bring them back. It will only make her sad and disappointed in you. And it will make me sad too, Brightpaw. You're my apprentice, and I care about you. You have so much potential, Brightpaw. You can be a great warrior if you choose to be."

Brightpaw looked into Berrymoon's eyes and saw the sincerity and compassion in them. She felt a flicker of hope in her chest.

"Really?" she asked.

"Really," Berrymoon said. "But you have to make a choice, Brightpaw. You can either give up and die, or you can fight and live. You can either let WindClan win, or you can make them pay for what they did."

Brightpaw thought for a moment. She realized that Berrymoon was right. She didn't want to die. She wanted to live. She wanted to be a warrior. She wanted to avenge her mother.

She nodded slowly.

"I-I...choose to live," she said.

Berrymoon smiled and licked her ear.

"Good," she said, "then let's go back to camp and train harder than ever. We'll show RiverClan that they made a grave mistake."

Brightpaw nodded again and followed Berrymoon back to the ThunderClan camp, feeling a new determination in her heart.

That night, she decided that she would make RiverClan pay, she would make her mother proud, and she would be a warrior worthy of vengeance.

Berrymoon and Brightpaw pad their way back into the camp and into the opening.

"Brightpaw, you're okay!" Berrypaw meowed, with tears in his eyes as he nuzzled against Brightpaw.

"Brightpaw, come back to my den so I can finish treating your wounds. You'll go blind in your eye if it's not treated properly," Rainfur said, as he walked back into his den.

Brightpaw was shocked to hear that she could go blind, so she ran to Rainfur's den as fast as she could.

Berrymoon chuckled as she walked away towards the warrior's den to rest.
