As Brightpaw walked back into camp she saw Lilystar sitting on the high rock overlooking the entire camp as Raventhorn sat beside her. Brightpaw dropped her fresh-kill into the pile as she saw Ashpaw out of the corner of her eye slinking her way towards the gorse tunnel and then running through the tunnel unnoticed by everyone but Brightpaw.
Brightpaw took a plump mouse, carried it over to a spot, and sat down, Berrypaw padded over to her and nuzzled against her. " The Silverpelt is beautiful tonight isn't it" she said as she took a bite of her mouse. Berrypaw nodded and purred.
Brightpaw finished her mouse and began to wonder what could have made Ashpaw sneak out of camp in such a rush let alone make her leave camp by herself.

Ashpaw dashed through the forest and into an opening with a deep river and sat down on the shore "Maybe he is right, I am useless, I'm more than just a burden to him, I'm a burden to the whole clan" Ashpaw thought to herself as she got up and got closer to the ledge to see her reflection in the rushing river.
As she stared into the river suddenly the ground under her collapsed as she lost her footing and slipped into the river. Ashpaw begins to thrash and yowl around as she attempts to swim but fails as the water is too strong and drags her under.
"This is it I'm gonna drown," she thought to herself as she began to lose consequences. An orange and black figure jumps into the river and dives down towards her "A Riverclan warrior?" she thought as she blacks out.
A moment later Ashpaw wakes as an unfamiliar but threatening smell fills the air, she opens her eyes to find a fox towering over her. She jumps to her paws as she realizes she is in a fox den with nowhere to run.
"P-please don't eat me, I wouldn't make a very great snack" Ashpaw pleaded. The fox stared at her then laughed "Eat YOU, you look like you are only made of skin and bones". Ashpaw became embarrassed, she had been called weak by a fox.
"W-what do you want from me?" she cowered with her tail between her legs. "Wow, that's how you thank someone who saved you'' the fox sighed as he shook his head.
Ashpaw's eyes widened as she thought back to the moment she blacked out, it wasn't a RiverClan warrior that jumped in after her, it was a fox. "Buy why... why did you jump into the river to save me" she asked as she shivered from her cold and wet pelt.
"I... I don't know... but hey you alive right" He smiled. Ashpaw was stunned that a random fox risked his life to save her. "My name is Rusty, what's yours?" Rusty chirped.
"A-ashpaw" she mewed nervously. The fox got closer to Ashpaw and sniffed her. "You're one of those clan cats aren't you" Rusty gasped in surprise. Ashpaw nodded looking confused. "Can I join your clan?" Rusty shouted with a glimmer in his eyes.
The fox's words took aback Ashpaw and finally spoke "I don't think you can" Ashpaw meowed. Rusty's smile disappeared "Oh ok" his ears drooped as he moved aside from the exit. "Well you should probably get back to your clan, they're probably worried about you"
Ashpaw walks out of the den and then looks back at Rusty "Thank you for saving me" she mewed. Rusty smiled and nodded as he lay down.
Ashpaw sprinted through the forest back to camp under the silverpelt as she could and made her way into the gorse tunnel, then looked into the empty opening in the camp and padded her way to the apprentice's den.
As Ashpaw looks into the den she sees Berrypaw cuddled up next to Brightpaw like a small kit clinging to their mother. "Brightpaw... wake up" Ashpaw mewed quietly.
Brightpaw's eyes open immediately and snap onto Ashpaw, causing her to flinch. "What do you need," Brightpaw said, staring a hole into Ashpaw's gray tiger-like pelt. She sat there for a second before speaking, "I'm going to run away...".
Brightpaw sat up in shock "W-why".
"I'm too weak to be a warrior, and I'm just an extra mouth to feed for the clan since I can't even hunt properly" Ashpaw meowed as her eyes glossed over.
Brightpaw sighed "Are you sure this is what you want?". Ashpaw nodded
Berrypaw had also woken up "What's going on" he mewed drowsily.
"Ashpaw wants to run away" Brightpaw meowed.
"Tomorrow during the gathering, once it ends and we go back to camp I'm going to run away, but I don't know where to go" Ashpaw meowed hoping Brightpaw had somewhere safe for her to go.
Brightpaw sat there and thought for a minute "How about... the abandoned twoleg barn, there might be some loners you could stay with".
"Yeah that seems like a good spot no cat ever goes there, plus it is far from any twoleg places" Berrypaw yawned. Brightpaw nodded "You should get some sleep.
