Chapter: *When the Storm Hits*
The sudden roar of thunder cracked through the silence, pulling Taehyung violently from his sleep. His heart raced, the sound still ringing in his ears. The room was dark, save for the occasional flash of lightning that briefly illuminated the shadows. He sat up, running a hand through his disheveled hair, blinking away the remnants of his dreams.
Grabbing his phone from the bedside table, he squinted at the bright screen. His eyes quickly moved to the clock, but something else caught his attention—numerous missed calls from Atharva.
“Why the hell…?” he muttered, furrowing his brows as he scrolled through the missed calls. There were at least six, all between midnight and now. He swiped to call him back, pressing the phone to his ear.
*Ring… ring…*
No answer. The call went to voicemail.
He frowned, dialing again, but this time the phone didn’t even ring. *Not reachable.*
“That’s weird,” he murmured to himself, rubbing his thumb over his lower lip in thought. Atharva wasn’t the type to call without reason, especially in the middle of the night.
Thunder rumbled again, and Taehyung’s gaze flickered to the window. Rain was pouring down, heavy and relentless, the occasional bolt of lightning cracking across the sky. The storm outside mirrored the unease creeping into his chest. He lay back against the headboard, phone still in hand, but sleep was nowhere near him now.
His thoughts drifted elsewhere—Venom. He couldn’t explain it, but something about the storm triggered memories of her. Over the past 2 months, he had noticed small things, details about her that most wouldn’t pick up on. The way her expression would subtly tighten when it rained. How she always seemed more on edge during thunderstorms, though she tried to mask it behind her usual cold demeanor.
*Does she hate rain? Or… something else?*
A fresh wave of thunder rolled through, louder this time, shaking the windowpanes. Taehyung sat up again, the idea firmly lodging itself in his mind. He couldn’t ignore the nagging feeling that Venom might not be okay right now.
Sighing, he swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood. “I’m not going to sleep like this anyway.”
Quietly, he didn't even wear his slippers and opened the door to his room. The penthouse was eerily still. He walked through the hallway, the dim lighting casting long shadows on the walls, his footsteps muffled on the thick fur carpet. As he neared Venom’s room upstairs, the unease in his chest grew heavier.
Standing outside her door, Taehyung hesitated for a moment. She wasn’t one for company, especially when she like being alone
His hand hovered over the door for a moment. But something inside him, that same pull he felt every time he was around her, wouldn’t let him walk away.
*Knock… knock… knock…*
The sound was soft, almost hesitant. He wasn’t sure if she was awake, or if she’d even answer, but it was better than doing nothing.
Taehyung stood outside Venom’s door, his hand frozen mid-air after the third knock. No sound. No movement. The storm raged on, thunder roaring through the night, shaking the walls of the penthouse on the top floor. His heart hammered in his chest, his phone still clutched in his hand, Atharva’s unanswered calls forgotten for the moment.
