Ronni and Hiro went back to the plantation to pack their own belongings before having a final lunch with his parents.
"it's so quiet now that the Rosetti's have gone" Ronni's mother said.
"we'll see them again dear, don't worry" her husband replied.
"so what are your plans dear? " Mrs Witchattakam asked her son.
"we will head back to the city, we'll no doubt have a lot of work to catch up on" Ronni said.
"don't let him work too hard will you Hiro dear and make him come back to visit us again soon" his mother said.
Hiro smiled ... as if he could do anything? even so he had really enjoyed it here and meeting Ronni's parents.
"I'm proud of you son, both of you in fact and congratulations again on getting the contract" Ronni's father said.
"I feel as though we didn't really do anything to be honest, we all got along great from day one and everything just gelled" Ronni replied.
"well that's a good thing isn't it?" his dad said.
"very good, ok ... we really need to get going guys but we'll come back again soon" Ronni said as they all stood up and walked to the main entrance.
"take care driving son and call as soon as you get back"
"will do mother" Ronni replied.
"it was so good to finally meet you son in law, we'll see you again soon yes?"
"I hope so" Hiro replied with a wai.
The pair eventually managed to leave the plantation after much weeping and promises to come back soon and had travelled for about ten minutes before Ronni sighed.
"is anything wrong?" Hiro asked him.
"I'm just not ready to go back to the city yet, shall we play hooky for a little while longer?" he asked.
"what did you have in mind?" Hiro asked.
"it's a surprise, just lay back and relax hmm?" Ronni said and so Hiro did just that.
He pressed recline on the control panel and laid his head back and soon the low purr of the engine lulled him to sleep then when he woke up, the car was no longer in transit and Ronni wasn't there.
Hiro sat up and was surprised to see the ocean through the windshield and he was overcome with a feeling of déjà vu.
The place looked vaguely familiar, almost like the place where he and Ronni had visited over six years ago but then it had been dark for much of that time and he had also been drunk so perhaps it was just somewhere similar but he couldn't shake the feeling.
He climbed out of the car to go and look for Ronni and as soon as he shut the door he heard a voice call out.
"you're awake then?" Ronni shouted and Hiro turned to see him standing on the deck of a modest sized property.
"I'm sorry, I hadn't realised how tired I was but what are you doing up there?" Hiro called back.
"come on up and I'll show you" Ronni said.
Hiro walked up the steps of the property and across to Ronni who wrapped his arms around him.
"what's going on Ronni, what is this place? I don't want us to get into trouble" Hiro said.
"we won't get into trouble baby, here's my surprise" Ronni smiled.
"I don't understand?"
"it's our house Hiro, yours and mine for when we are tired of being in the apartment in the city" Ronni smiled.
