At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love

The smoke cloud billowed out of his mouth, as he breathed out of his nose, cold air blowing through his nostrils. The earthy cedar taste of his cigar filling his mouth and staining on his clothes. It was late October, so the fountain only had a few more weeks until it started snowing. Though if you touched the water now, it was freezing, the smallest droplets fell on to his leather jacket. His eyes wondered the expanse of grass in front of him as the moon started to rise into the sky. It was never able to sleep until he knew you were home and safe, it something that he wouldn't explain to you. But he met you at the fountain before waking you to your room.

The moment you met Logan in a bar, late one night when he was cage fighting, he'd instantly been attracted to you. It was you had something about you that wrapped around his heart and stole it. You were Charles' daughter but of course his mentor being your father wasn't the worst thing he could ask for. Though you weren't at the level that Charles was at, you were able to touch someone and just started learning information like you were a sponge.

He'd even let you use his powers on him, somehow, you'd convinced him that if you knew about his trauma that it could ease the pain. Logan didn't know how you got him to do it, but he knew he liked how close you had to get to him. Planting yourself right between his thighs as your hands come up to his temples, his past slowly started to fill your mind like a blood transfusion. You knew that you couldn't relate to his exact experience, but you felt those emotions he did when he was going through his past. The most painful being Jean's death and Kayla's death, he could equate the two experiences, each painful in their own right. Logan hadn't loved many women and as you grow closer, as you looked into his with understanding and not pity, he falls. But the image of Jean's concerned eyes when she had scene, it made him feel small, insecure.

But it was because the way Jean perceived him always hurt, she never saw him as someone she could love. He was a fun night, something he learned with her flirting, she would've slept with Logan, but he stepped back. As much as he hated Scott he wasn't going to put himself in harm's way. But before you gotten there it just seemed like he was in pain all the time. Watching the women he loved with someone else, telling himself he has to stay away that it has to be okay. When you sat next to him, ordering his drink, bringing it up to your lips to immediately scrunch your face up in distaste. Logan couldn't help but smile at you before bringing his own up to his mouth.

"That'll be on me."

"You don't have to do that." You reassured.

"It's no problem, sweetheart." He grinned.

The two of you had immediately clicked and became quick friends. Your father also believed in him, saw his potential, so Charles set Logan's room next to yours. You showed him around the mansion, starting training with him and just hung out with him in general. Everything already thought the two of you were a couple, though you were oblivious, Logan was not. He saw the chirps of Jean, Storm and Scott. Going back and forth about the two spending so much time together, how when Logan had a nightmare you'd hear and go over to his room at night.

Your hand coming to his chest, as you were able to soothe him as you got into his dream. Logan's body relaxing as you slowly moved out of his brain and his eyes fluttered shut. This hadn't been the first time, and it had taken many tries. But you were able to go into his dreams and see the narrative but also connect with Logan. You had tears in your eyes as you felt his pain, before opening them up. When he saw your eyes, he thought he might've hurt you, darting up as his hands reached out for your arms. You'd move in close to him, your hand landing on his naked shoulder.

"Are you okay?" You asked, gazing down at him.

"I didn't hurt you?"

"No, member? I got it." You assured, your hand coming up to his hair as his eyes fluttered shut.

"Stay with me?"

"Yeah." You hummed, climbing into bed next to him. The two of you wound up cuddling a lot of nights, his nightmares few and far between when you were beside him.

Logan had burnt his cigar down as stubs it out on the fountain concreate. That's when he sees your car pulling in the driveway, his shoulders relaxing as he sees you slowly go inside. You walk out moments later, with your purse on your shoulder, a tired look in your eyes. Logan lightly cough before making his way over to you, bumping his shoulder into yours. You naturally lean your head against his side, his arm coming around you.

"I'm exhausted." You murmured, as he scooped you around to grab your bag and slinging it over his leather clad shoulder. "Didn't have to-."

"I know I know sugar." Logan huffed, waving his hand at you. You smiled over at him shaking your head before he goes to sit back down at the fountain.

You sigh shivering, "Its cold."

"I think it's fine."

"Cause your always weirdly warm." You retorted, rubbing your hands together as he lightly scoffed before shrugging off his jacket. He draped it around your shoulders, "You act like my boyfriend, Logan." You blurted. Logan just shrugged in reply, looking over at you with his eyebrows raised.

"You want that?"

"I don't know how you feel, Logan." You admited.

"It's a two-way street, sunshine." He gave you a playful glare as his hand went to your knee. You braced your hand over the top of his, sinking your fingers between his. You leant in towards him, as he did the same to you, his other hand coming up to your cheek. Logan offered you a cheesy toothy smile as he glanced at your lips. "Your so beautiful-I-I want you so bad-I l-."

"It's okay." You squeezed his hand, gazing up at him. "I love you, Lo." You murmured, bringing his hand up to yours as you kissed the back of veiny palm. Then his hand brought you into his mouth, slotting his lips over yours as you softly moaned. Logan wasn't able to say it out loud, but as his lips moved with yours, he hoped he close enough to say it soon.
