ok but this is like right before the timeline change in dopf, but like if charles was already having seizures but like mildly, and like in the new timeline everything is perfect and wrapped in a bow and not what happened in logan...

You watched as Jean sucked Logan in before spitting him back out into the waves. That's when he came back to you, pleading for your forgiveness, telling you he loved you. You could feel that Logan loved especially when the two of you made love. He'd hold you so close, looking into your eyes, when he was with you, he was with you all the way. But then he'd leave just up and leave, no text, no goodbye. Logan would go back to the mansion pretending as if you never existed. You knew where he was at, you used to work there, before you decidingly quit.

It was after your first break up with Logan, you caught him cheating on you with Jean. You knew that his emotions were everywhere after her death, but you thought he had moved on. That he loved you, but when she came back, he was pulled back into her tide. You thought it was inevitable that he would leave you, break you all over again, always feeling like his second choice. When Jean died, when Jean went back to Scott, he'd come back to you like you were some consolation prize.

Little did you know Logan's truth, his addiction, his trauma response to flee. Sometimes he can't sense a good thing for a bad thing, catching himself naively trusting others. So, every time Jean told him it would be different, he listened, most of the time it wasn't even words between them. When he was on the outside looking in all he wanted were things to be right between the two of them, because it just had to be Jean. But you never left his heart, he never stopped thinking about you, feeling guilty for not being the man you deserved.

Logan wasn't shown genuine kindness in a long time, so when he found a sliver with Jean he took it. Even if it was wrong, he didn't know better than to get involved with her. He had no idea that he would fall in love with her. He took what should've been a short-lived romance into forever, and it never stopped feeling that way.

When you came into his life things started to change, he'd forgotten about Jean because the two of you were falling in love, and not the same type of love he found with Jean. The type where you were best friends before you got together, he knew every little detail about you and vise versa, and you didn't have to read his mind to learn it.

At first, he hadn't told you about his trauma, but you were so easy to talk to. A man who wasn't known for his words sure went on went it came to you. Even around friends he was more talkative, more out of his shell, funnily enough you were still shy, quiet. But you were by Logan's side, his hand on your thigh, or intertwined with yours, slung behind your back or resting on your waist. You didn't even like being touched often but if it was Logan, you were fine. When you met him, you thought that he was going to be forever. But he just wound up hurting you every time.

When he looked at you, he saw his future and when he looked at Jean he saw his past. It was hard to let go of something that held so much importance to him. But if he hung on to it forever it was going to slowly eating away at him, before he became a shell of himself. Suddenly so detached to what is actually happening in the present that he almost felt high. Fueling the fantasies of a life he once knew, but something that was no longer reality. It was a sentiment that you shared with him, because as much as Jean hurt him, he had also leveled the playfield with your relationship.

Because even if there was nothing wrong, he'd snap at you, sometimes he was just so numb of the alcohol that he wasn't really there. But then there were times where he'd make you cry, he'd promise to never touch the bottle again. That he loved you, never meant to hurt you and would do better. Then something would happen with the X-men, inevitably drawing him back into that life. Every time he came head on with his feelings for Jean, even if it was nostalgia, it still felt real in the moment.

The evidence was slowly revealing it self to him this time though, not only because you plagued his thoughts. But because he was having constant nightmares about losing you or hurting you. He'd wake up in a jolt, his chest heaving, Jean would stir beside him. Logan would say something about smoking and insomnia before moving away from her hands. Because when he woke up from a nightmare, he didn't want to feel her, he wanted you. Over and over again their cues to them that this wasn't right, something he never felt with you. Sure, he thought about Jean once awhile, but he'd usually wound up talking to you about it.

But now you weren't here, he'd lost you in the original timeline. Logan knew he should've told you about Charles but he hadn't. It was the early times with his condition, he mostly had control over himself, he barely even needed meds. You'd come to the mansion looking for him only to endure one of Charles' seizures. Which resulted in Logan coming into the mansion to see you unconscious on the floor, when they got to the lab. Jean told him you had suffered a stroke and died; he had broken down. That had been the time he'd never gone back to Jean because it worst dreams come true.

Then he'd gotten a second chance, when he'd gone back and changed the past. Stopping the sentinels, when he woke up at the mansion to be confronted with Jean and Scott, alive. It was hard for him to process but when he came face to face with you. Logan had completely frozen in his spot, only to move towards you and hug you. Your eyes bulged out of your head as you wiggled out of his arms with a mock frown on your face. Making his eyebrows furrow in confusion.

"Why do think you can hug me?" You sassed, crossing your arms over your chest.

God had he fucked it up in this timeline too?

"Dad!" A voice chirped, your five- year old walking up behind you and running into Logan's legs with a giggle.

"Mel, member' were mad at daddy!" You whispered, glaring over at her as moved away, your facial expressions being mimicked by the child. Logan just stood there frozen in shock, he'd been staring at your face but now he was staring at the little mini you, standing right beside you.

"Y/n, he's back." Jean announced.

"Well, oh shit." You murmured, looking away before glancing back at him. "We uh, need to get to Charles. Melanie, go find your brother." You hadn't touched him in such a long time, that when he finally reached out for him. That's when his eyes flitted down to your slightly swollen stomach.

"What happened?" Logan asked, "I mean with us."

"Charles, with uh tell you more, but we're uh married, and...got two kiddos, Melanie and James. Uh, we still have a pretty complicated relationship, but we figure it out." You explained.

"So Jean and I-." Logan sighed.

"Yeah, you were off and on, but-." You shrugged, before getting to Charles' door. "Do you want me to come in?"

"Yeah." He nodded, before pushing open the door.

Charles had gone on to show him what his life had been like for the last fifty so years, a lot of the same things happened. The two of you were on and off, and he would go back to Jean. He did this for a long time until he'd hit a breaking point, the same one he'd had when you'd died. But then your wedding flooded into brain, your death date in the other timeline was Melanie's birthday. Logan didn't know why he'd been given this second chance, why after all the pain and misery did he get you and three beautiful children.

He didn't know but he was going to treasure every second of it
